CENTRAL TEXAS M H M R CENTER IDD LEAD CRISIS INTERVENTIONIST-#TBD in Brownwood, Texas

General Description:

Under the general supervision of the Director of Crisis with LPHA Consult. Position has some latitude for independent judgment; the IDD Lead Crisis Interventionist will collaborate with appropriate LIDDA staff members to provide services to those who are at risk of requiring crisis services. The IDD Crisis Interventionist will support appropriate LIDDA staff as they obtain and coordinate services for individuals in crisis to ensure the individuals needs are met. Primary responsibilities include consult and collaboration with LIDDA staff and MCOT to develop criteria for referring an individual with IDD in crisis to crisis respite. The IDD Crisis Interventionist Specialist will also provide education to community regarding work with individuals with a diagnosis of IDD, and collaborate with appropriate LIDDA staff to identify training needs, and crisis prevention strategies.

Work requires aggressive intervention and frequent in-person contact with individuals, families, and service providers. Incumbent will be working closely with clients and must be able to lift in excess of 45 pounds. The work environment is such as to require sitting, walking, lifting, bending, and the full range of physical and mental activities normally associated with care giving. Prefer experience working with individuals with mental disabilities. Work schedule will require flexible hours. This position requires the use of a Center vehicle.

Qualifications:

Applicants for this position must meet the minimum qualifications of a qualified intellectual disability professional as defined in 42 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), 483.430(a) and have at least two years of experience working with individuals with IDD who have mental health and behavior support needs or linking people with IDD to mental health supports, in addition to the one year of required experience of a qualified intellectual disability professional described in 42 CFR , 483.430(a)(1). It is preferred applicant have obtained a masters degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a major in psychology, social services or related field. It is also preferred the applicant meet the qualifications of a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) who is supervised by a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Psychiatrist. The applicant may be a licensure applicant with a temporary social work license as long as the applicant is fully licensed within six months after hire. A minimum of 6 months experience in working with those with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities is required. Professionalism in dealing with community officials and resources is a must, displaying good oral and written communication skills. Computer skills are essential, and must be able to work in stressful situations. Position requires travel within a seven county area while on call. A valid Texas Drivers License with driving record to comply with CFLR is essential. If selected for this position, employee must give CFLR authorization to request copy of driving record as well as all required prescreens and background checks. Applicant must be able to satisfactorily complete required staff development training.
