Eaton Corporation Materials Manager in Broomfield, Colorado

Eaton’s Power Systems Division is currently seeking a Materials Manager to join our team. This position is based at our Innovative Switchgear Solutions Business in Broomfield, CO.

The ISG Facility is a leader in the design, development, manufacturer and delivery of mid-range switchgear and components for the utility markets. This role drives on-time delivery through material flow planning and ensuring optimal scheduling of production units.

As the Materials Manager you will interface with all functions and levels of the leadership role in purchasing locally and nationally, customer programs, and financial performance. This position is a multi-functional one and requires strong technical and interpersonal skills.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $108749.97 - $159499.96 a year.

Position Overview

Customer and Supplier Management

In this role, you will manage supplier relationships, purchasing, inventory control, logistics, scheduling, and planning all to ensure that we meet and exceed customer requirements. You will drive key customer service indicators such as stock fill rate, on-time performance, and inventory levels. You will manage supplier negotiations for both direct and indirect materials, and lead supply chain teams, contributing to product line forecasting.

Operational Leadership and Improvement

You will own the SIOP process and its associated metrics, including load attainment and forecast accuracy. Your leadership will be crucial in purchasing, inventory control, logistics, and planning, where you will foster continuous improvement. You will establish and execute inventory strategies and production planning, and lead materials management and shop floor execution business process improvement activities (rapid improvement events, value stream mapping, 5S+, Boot Camps etc.). You are responsible for leading cost reduction initiatives within purchasing, planning, shipping, and receiving departments. Additionally, you will monitor and track performance improvement related to activities and implements process checks to ensure sustained performance.

Strategic Planning and Employee Development

You will evaluate employee performance, build organizational capability through development plans and mentoring, and participate in the development of plant strategic plans, aligning departmental goals. Finally, you will prepare special reports and analyses to guide and inform management. We value diverse talent and encourage individuals from all backgrounds to apply.

What you’ll do:

  • Create, communicate, and build consensus for a strategic vision across the site. Utilize systematic processes (e.g., ERP Health Monitor) to monitor procurement and logistics management compliance and performance.

  • Continuously improve key performance indicators applicable to Materials Management, such as Material Availability, Days on Hand, Inventory, Excess and Obsoletes. Remove barriers that negatively affect such indicators.

  • Defines process improvement opportunities within area of responsibility through gaining advanced understanding of operational material demand requirements and working with procurement and logistics teams to optimize materials and service flow.

  • Monitors the performance of core service providers to ensure compliance and alignment with customer requirements and contractual obligations.

  • Directs coordination activities to areas and projects of greatest strategic value as defined in the project charters.

  • Provide guidance and leadership to manufacturing operations and service providers towards developing innovative or “Best Practice” solutions to supply chain problems.

  • This position requires an effective deployment of the Eaton Leadership model. The Materials Manager must be an effective leader with skills at developing individuals and teams, setting goals, and holding people accountable, leveraging resources, effective communication, building organizational capability, and professional presence.

  • Deploy and maintain inventory replenishment plan(s) and Min./Max. that optimize service level, inventory levels, and logistics cost. Participate in regional inventory forecasting and follow-up processes. Effectively optimize Inventory levels and ensure inventory accuracy.

  • Principal responsible for quarterly and annual Physical Inventories and cycle counts.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

• A minimum of 8 years of supply chain experience which would include managerial or supervisory experience.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree from an accredited institution or CPIM from APICS

• Supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Held operational leadership roles in a manufacturing environment.

Skills:

  • Analytical skills to recommend changes to MRP; material flow, sourcing, inventory, and planning strategies.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Programs

  • Negotiation abilities to arrive at win-win solutions.

  • Experience with MRP implementation and changes.
