UX Writers on the Experience Design team create simple, useful digital banking experiences that help KeyBank clients access, understand, and make the most of their money. We are seeking a knowledgeable, highly skilled, and collaborative UX writing professional who excels at creating intuitive, engaging digital experiences and at fostering productive, trusted relationships.
As Associate UX Writer, you’ll be using the design thinking process to contribute to digital banking experiences by creating clear, meaningful text that guides users and helps them complete the task at hand. You may also serve as a content strategist to define product narratives across multiple platforms and touch points.
Our ideal candidate is an accomplished self-starter who is as motivated by optimization and results as they are by concise, crafted user experiences. This is a critical role on our Experience Design team within the Client & Employee Experience group that enables Key to deliver exceptional experiences by aligning data-driven action to the needs of our current and future clients and teammates.
COMPETENCIES
Passion for writing and the role words play in delivering intuitive, engaging reader-friendly experiences
2-4 years of experience delivering UX copy in interactive, digital product, educational, or technical environments
Exceptional portfolio representing a breadth of experience and industries
A demonstrated ability to make financial services approachable to everyday users, from consumers and business owners to corporate treasurers and retail bank managers
A curiosity to understand and think through every aspect of a user journey, from error states to success criteria
Skilled at distilling sets of complex features into effortless interactions using simple, succinct language
Meticulous attention to detail
Knowledgeable of and experienced in the design thinking process
Experience incorporating user feedback from research into copy flows
Experience navigating a highly regulated industry with compliance obligations, strongly preferred
Experience working in an Agile environment, strongly preferred
An understanding of accessibility and inclusivity, strongly preferred
Ability to synthesize complex, interdependent, and sometimes competing priorities
Familiarity working with software including Figma, Miro, Confluence/Jira, Monday.com, MS Office and Teams
Team-first attitude with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
ACTIVITIES
Have primary accountability for all UX writing work within assigned squads
Reframe product requests as user-centered problems and respond with meaningful, crafted solutions
Develop informed points of view and communicate them convincingly while being flexible to input from others
Collaborate with product designers, the Senior UX Writer, product and developer partners to define copy requirements and strategies to address business outcomes, technical constraints, and customer needs
Influence and be involved in product initiatives at every stage from discovery and research through refinement and implementation
Participate in or lead content design strategy efforts, including performing content audits
Participate in design thinking workshops, research activities, and analysis
Conduct copy validation such as A/B testing
Collaborate with product design and research partners to test and validate copy approaches
Integrate qualitative and quantitative research into copy recommendations
Explore a range of options, discarding what doesn’t work as well to discover what works best
Use empathy, logic, and data to inform copy decisions
Communicate copy needs to designers and developers
Promote a consistent experience across platforms through best practices, and by adhering to the brand and UX Writing style guidelines
Anchor work in design thinking, Key Design System, and research
Contribute to complex cross-functional projects, and work with leadership to set goals
Participate in design review sessions and provide relevant feedback
Continual knowledge of competitor products and industry trends
Advocate for design thinking and CX+EX and Key Design Studio principles across the organization
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $80,000 to $90,000 annually depending on location and job-related factors such as level of experience. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for short-term incentive compensation and deferred incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance.
