About the Role:
Callen-Lorde Community Health Center is seeking a Front Desk Patient Care Associate (PCA) to join our Brooklyn team! As the first point of contact for patients, the PCA plays a critical role in providing a welcoming and inclusive environment while ensuring efficient patient flow and administrative support. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about community healthcare and providing excellent patient service.
Key Responsibilities:
As a PCA, your responsibilities will include:
Patient Check-In & Registration – Greet patients warmly, verify demographic and insurance information, and ensure completion of necessary forms.
Appointment Scheduling & Management – Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using the electronic health record (EHR) system.
Insurance Verification & Payment Processing – Verify patient insurance coverage, collect co-pays, and process payments as needed.
Maintain Front Desk Operations – Ensure a clean and organized reception area while assisting with daily administrative tasks.
Support Patient Navigation – Provide information about services, programs, and resources available at Callen-Lorde.
Handle Patient Inquiries & Concerns – Address patient questions with professionalism and escalate issues to the appropriate department when necessary.
Assist with Medical Records & Documentation – Scan, file, and manage patient documents while maintaining confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Collaborate with Healthcare Teams – Work closely with medical providers, nurses, and other staff to support smooth clinic operations and a positive patient experience.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position with evening hours.

Qualifications
Education, Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience in a medical service environment, specifically with front desk activities preferred
Knowledge of Federal & NY State patient privacy regulations/laws a plus
Desired Characteristics, Skills
Experience working with diverse populations including the LGBT community
Excellent attention to detail
Strong customer service skills
Ability to remain calm, focused, and helpful under stress
Ability to multi-task
Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred
