The Brookdale Hospital & Medical Center PATHOLOGIST in Brooklyn, New York
Responsible examines bodily fluids, such as blood and urine, or tissues from biopsies and Pap smears, to diagnose disease.
Oversee the integrity of specimen collection and testing
Manage clinical laboratories
Provide written interpretation of test results
Advise physicians of test results and recommendations
Provide written biopsy results
Oversee the collection of blood and plasma at blood banks
Work with law enforcement officials and testify about lab results in court as necessary.
Performs other duties as requested.
Education:
BS in biology, chemistry or premedical studies. MA preferred.
MD is required.
Experience:
Experience beyond medical school is preferred, but not required.
Knowledge and Skills:
Good attention to detail
Ability to write and document findings clearly
Ability to write, read and communicate in English is required.
Physical Requirements:
Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day. Position will be required to stoops, bends, lifts, carry items weighing up to 75 pounds.
