Summary:

The role of RMS Maintenance Technician is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, repair, and efficient operation of all building systems and equipment. The Maintenance Technician will coordinate and complete all requested work, assign priorities, and follow up on completion.

Classification:

Non-exempt (overtime eligible); Non-Union

Essential functions/Responsibilities: duties include but are not limited to the following

  • Perform basic repairs and adjustments (i.e. carpentry work, painting, plastering, flooring work, demolition of walls, electrical, etc.)

  • Work closely with Property Manager/ Superintendent to help coordinate tasks

  • Coordinate with tenants to set times to access apartments to make repairs

  • Efficiently manage incoming service requests

  • Repair of walkways and exteriors

  • Track time and log activities/work completed for each job

  • Complete renovation projects as needed

  • Perform high-quality work with attention to detail

  • On-call to respond to tenant requests and issues

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with a successful track record as maintenance tech/handyman

  • High School diploma or GED preferred

  • Thorough understanding of safety hazards and proper use of personal protective equipment

  • Experienced and knowledgeable in construction and maintenance

  • Able to handle a wide variety of repairs (including painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc.)

  • Good at troubleshooting and problem solving

  • Must possess strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with residents, staff, and vendors to ensure the safe operations of buildings

  • Able to work a flexible schedule and willing to travel

  • Owning all tools needed for general handyman tasks is a plus

  • Due to physical nature of certain required tasks, must be able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds at a time
