POSITION DETAILS
Brooklyn College is soliciting applications for an International Student Admissions Advisor. Reporting to the Director of the International Student and Scholar Services (ISS). The International Student Admissions Advisor serves as a liaison to the United States Department of State and Homeland Security.
The Department of International Student and Scholar Services educates the International student population and the College community about the rules and regulations that govern the admission and enrollment of international students in order to ensure that both the College and the students remain in compliance with immigration regulations set forth by the United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS).
In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, duties include but are not limited to:
Recruit international students and advise on immigration and related issues
Advise new and continuing international students on immigration procedures, registration, change of status, leave of absence, and other issues; facilitates immigration paperwork and data processing
Serves as a Designated School Official (DSO) for the F program. Serves as an Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for the J Program.
Advise international students and exchange visitors in obtaining and maintaining F-1 and J-1 non-immigrant status. Monitor and report on F-1 and J-1 college enrollment and federal compliance requirements
Provide information and guidance to faculty and administrators regarding college and student/scholar obligations pertinent to U.S. entry, status maintenance, work permission, health and safety, academic progress and program completion
Process information in related systems such as Student Exchange Visitor Immigration System (SEVIS), I-1440 and CUNYfirst. Assists in maintaining student records and creating related reports
Conduct immigration and cultural orientation sessions, workshops and events on-campus, virtual and in the surrounding NYC area for prospective students and families
Serves on appropriate CUNY committees
Maintains up-to-date information on regulations, policies and practices (internal and external) pertaining to international students
Performs related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree required.
Valid driver's license required
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with International Students
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and be a proactive member of the admissions team
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). CUNYfirst preferred
Possess a sensitivity to the needs of a diverse campus population
Possess excellent organizational and time management skills
Flexibility to work evening and weekend hours as needed
Demonstrates communication skills, writing and public speaking ability, exemplary customer service skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with key constituents and prospects within assigned territory
Two years of experience in an Admissions office or Enrollment area setting preferred
Experience working with SEVIS as a PDSO/DSO and/or RO/ARO a preferred
Experience with events and local or regional travel planning preferred
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Coordinates and contributes to student recruiting activities.
Conducts open house sessions and orientations to ensure applicants are fully informed of requirements and processes
Assists in direct recruiting at high schools, community outreach events, and other appropriate locations
Provides general information on programs and services in person or by telephone, email, or letter
Maintains current information about College programs and degree requirements
Performs related duties as assigned

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$49,960 - $57,517; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
