Overview
Position directs finance, administration and operations functions for Tandons Department of Computer Science & Engineering and ensures efficient and effective administration of the department. The Director, Administration & Operations is responsible for planning and organizing the department's financial affairs and administering its educational and research programs. Develops and implements administrative unit level strategic goals and executes school and department goals in support students, research, community, and foundations. Manages department's relationship with administrative units in the Deans Office. Leads administrative planning and projects. Oversees academic and administrative services, budget & finance, human resources, payroll, technology, and communications. Directs department's overall operations, financial planning and accounting practices, maintains financial management reporting and control systems, monitors departmental expenditures, oversees compliance with external and internal policies, procedures and regulations, supervises staff. Drives culture of service based administrative excellence, efficiency and effectiveness and champions diversity and inclusiveness throughout the department.
Responsibilities
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in a related area
Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in a related area
Required Experience:
7+ years progressive administrative experience and responsibilities in a highly matrixed organization (e.g., directing administrative services/processes, budgets, and staff) or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience support academic and/or research organizations.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent leadership, planning, management, networking, and presentation skills. Ability to negotiate solutions to resolve problems and persuade others when some differences of opinion may exist. Must demonstrate the ability to work as a team member; to think creatively; and to evaluate and improve existing processes and procedures. Must have strong and polished written and oral communication skills. The position demands significant attention to detail, effective communications, team collaboration, and occasional work on weekends. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suite, and knowledge of other PC programs.
Qualifications
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $125,000.00 to USD $165,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
