Pearle Vision Optometric Specialist -Optical Pre-Exam Technician (NOT REMOTE) in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota

About the role Pay: This is negotiable, depending on experience. You will earn more with bonuses. This role is in in person at the clinic. The Telehealth Specialist works in conjunction with Remote Technicians and Doctors as part of the patient care team to perform activities involving (but not limited to) patient care, pre-testing, being a chair-side advocate during the remote exam, and maintaining the doctor’s appointment schedule in a manner that delivers a professional and pleasurable patient experience. With Telehealth, this role is responsible for conducting pre-testing and specialized testing for tele-optometric exams utilizing Telehealth-related equipment and instruments. Duties & Responsibilities * The Telehealth Specialist is a patient advocate. You will guide the patient through the entire Telehealth exam experience, from pre-test, being chair-side during the exam and handing the patient off to an optician to purchase lenses, frames, contact lenses and accessories. * Complete patient registration by gathering patient information, including Medical History and Ocular Health data. * Will conduct pretesting and explain to the patient each step of the process, which instruments conduct which tests and why they are important. * Assist the Remote Technician and Remote Doctor when interacting with patients. * After the exam, the Specialist will escort the patient to the appropriate optician or technician, explaining the recommendations for eyeglasses and/or contact lenses made for the patient. Other Duties * Instruct patients on medical care as prescribed by the doctor’s treatment plan and schedule follow-up appointments as needed. * Participate in-practice meetings/projects as requested. * Ensures that maximum OD utilization occurs through pre-appointment confirmation, daily appointment confirmation, contacting patients from recall listings, partnership with the manager’s outreach, etc. * Calls all no-shows or canceled patients to reschedule appointments. * Performs various end-of-day responsibilities. * assist from the desk with pulling insurance, scheduling appointments, assisting customers with there needs, assisting lab technician, and assisting opticians. * Makes recommendations for efficiencies, processes, etc. which will deliver quality, cost savings, and/or profitability improvements within the store and / or across the organization. * Performs other duties within the practice as requested and as time allows. * Qualifications * High School or GED qualification * Minimum 2-years experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye exam medications * Familiarity with medical terms associated with eye treatment. * Effective & professional verbal communication skills to discuss prescriptions and treatment plans. * Models professionalism and a high level of personal and professional integrity through words and actions; able to put personal feelings aside when conducting business or working on tasks. * This position requires communicating and exchanging information, utilizing equipment necessary to perform the job, and moving about the office. * Effective verbal and written communication skills to effectively work with co-workers and outside vendors and prepare concise and accurate documentation. * Prior experience maintaining patients’ records/files per HIPAA regulations. * Entry-level PC skills including MC Office, Windows, and Word Processing * Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team environment, functioning for the team's good over the individual.
