Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor\'s degree in (specific area of biological science) and two years of experience related to the area of assignment at a Biological Science Research Technician 2 level. Three additional years of experience related to the area of assignment at the Biological Science Research Technician 2 level may be substituted for the Bachelor\'s degree. Additional Required Qualifications A Bachelor\'s degree in Forestry or a related field and two years of experience related to the area of assignment at a Biological Science Research Technician 2 level. Three additional years of experience related to the area of assignment at the Biological Science Research Technician 2 level may be substituted for the Bachelor\'s degree. Experience collecting field data at remote study sites Experience navigating in forest ecosystems using a GPS and/or compass Experience collecting forest inventory and plant community data Experience collecting and curating biological field samples Ability to make independent decisions regarding protocol and procedure in the field Experience maintaining research equipment Ability to discern disease symptoms Commitment to safety, quality of work, and professionalism Position Duties 85% Establishing permanent plot network including surveys (plant community data, forest inventory data) and sample collection. 10% Safely and correctly use and maintain sampling equipment and forest inventory tools, which may include chainsaws. 5% Data entry and quality control.
