WorkSource Oregon Diesel Mechanic in Brookings, Oregon
Responsibilities: The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and diagnosing diesel engines, heavy-duty trucks, and other equipment used in our forestry and lumber operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety. Qualifications: * Minimum 1 year of experience in Diesel Mechanics. * Must have own tools. * Valid Driver\'s License required. * Kenworth, Peterbilt & Caterpillar experience preferred. Specific Skills: * Diagnose/repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in diesel engines, trucks, and heavy equipment. * Conduct inspections and troubleshoot problems to identify causes/recommend appropriate solutions. * Perform engine overhauls, rebuilds, and component replacements as needed. * Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed. * Always adhere to safety protocols and procedures. * Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient operation of equipment. * Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices in diesel engine maintenance and repair. Additional Requirements: * Ability to lift and carry heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds. * Stamina and physical endurance to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods. * Ability to work in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow. * Comfort working in confined spaces and at heights when necessary. * Hearing ability to detect equipment malfunctions and safety alarms. * Agility and flexibility to maneuver in and around machinery and vehicles.
