Job Description:

Simulation Engineer II – Battery Advanced Technology

This Simulation Engineer II’s primary role uses highly developed simulation expertise to help design, develop, and support high-power density lithium-ion battery packs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Primary technical resource for battery pack drop simulation and design.

  • Provide clear engineering information to Project Leaders and the Global Engineering teams facilitating trade off decisions.

  • Ability to balance use of mechanical simulation and testing validation as it pertains to battery development.

  • Establish simulation regimens for components and assemblies within area of scope in the project with minimal guidance.

  • Establish test and validation of simulation regimens for pack level design within scope of the project with minimal guidance. Deliver complete data analysis to support design recommendations.

  • Develop, write, and analyze testing reports with internal laboratory with minimal assistance from higher level engineers.

  • Execute a wide variety of engineering analyses using the following tools:

  • 0-1D simulation (Matlab/Simulink)

  • Electro/Mechanical simulation (Ansys)

  • Design of Experiments (DOE)

  • Statistical data analysis

Job Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or Equivalent degree.

  • 2+ years of relevant experience

  • Background and understanding of 3D CAD –SolidWorks, NX, or similar.

  • Prior experience with the methods and materials used to manufacture power tools preferred.

  • Must have good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication.

  • Strong mechanical design skills and ability to develop creative design solutions.

  • Strong analytical skills, knowledge, and experience in process development and design evaluation.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% (travel includes Domestic and International).

  • High interest in tools of the construction trades.
