Imperial Electronic Assembly, Inc. Roaming Cable and Harness Inspector in Brookfield, Connecticut
POSITION PURPOSE: To perform first piece, in-process, and final inspection of cables and harnesses to ensure products meets customer requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs first piece, in-process, and final inspections. Records non-conformances found at inspection. Works with management to ensure customer schedule compliance. Maintains qualified status on all required in-house training. Provides suggestions for training specific to process improvement and corrective action. Acts as primary trainer for the Cable and Harness department, but is able to step-in for other departments as needed. Follows travelers, customer supplied documentation, or instructions from Supervisor for direction. Checks work periodically and upon completion for accuracy. Participates in attaining Cable and Harness departmental goals and objectives by performing job requirements at the highest level of accuracy. Works in a productive and efficient manner so the production schedules of the Company are met. Assures that the Cable and Harness Department complies with the Companys Quality System. Participates in internal and external quality system audits as needed. Analyzes departmental processes and makes process improvement recommendations. Participates in or coordinates committee activities as needed. Works with customers and other departments to expedite or resolve problems to ensure customer product delivery dates are met. Assures that all assembly equipment is properly maintained. Maintains an organized and neat work area.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum: Three (3) years of experience as a Cable and Harness Assembler with increased responsibilities in an electronic contract manufacturing organization, electronic high tech, or related industry with equivalent experience. Preferred: Five (5) years of experience as a Cable and Harness Assembler with increased responsibilities and two (2) years experience as a Cable and Harness Inspector in an electronic contract manufacturing organization, electronic high tech or related industry with equivalent experience. Diploma or GED from an accredited high school or technical school. College degree in engineering or other related area preferred.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Excellent ability to identify non-conformances of products compared to customers requirements. Knowledge of electronic contract manufacturing best practices. LEAN manufacturing knowledge a plus. Knowledge of cable and harness assembly methods. Knowledge of IPC-A-620 Standards. IPC-A-620 certification a plus. Demonstrated effective analysis and corrective action implementation techniques. Able to read and interpret customer requirements from various customer-supplied formats. Able to read complicated electronic schematics and assembly drawings. Able to identify electronic wiring and harnessing components. Leadership and supervisory skills. Strong organizational skills along with excellent oral and written communication ability. Proficient user of Microsoft Office. Able to speak, read, write and understand English as it relates to performing job requirements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Regularly required to sit, stand, reach, bend and walk about the building. May be required to lift, carry, or otherwise transport boxes weighing up to 25 pounds. May be required to lift, carry, push, drag or otherwise transport materials in bins weighing up to 50 pounds. Light to moderate physical effort required. Continuous mental and visual attention required. Use of handheld and or machine operated electronic assembly tools and measuring equipment is required.
WORK ENVIR NMENT: Works in a climate-controlled assembly facility with little to no noise.
OTHER: Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
