The New York Foundling Therapist - KEYS MST-SA (Bronx | 35 hrs/wk. | Fulltime) ***UP TO $2,000 SIGN ON INCENTIVE!!!*** in Bronx, New York

Description

  • Provides home-based clinical treatment utilizing MST-SA Model and Implement an evidence-based model that pulls from Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Structural and Strategic Family Therapy and the social and ecological model

  • Works on a team of 3 therapists, 1 supervisor, 1 employment/education specialist, and one care navigator.

  • Manage caseload of 4 to 6 families and provide coverage for peer's caseload as needed, provides direct clinical treatment using methods compatible with assigned model.

  • • Participate in weekly team supervision and consultation

  • Participate in weekly team supervision and consultation

  • Conducts 2 to 3 sessions with each family a week with youth and their families who are at risk of entering the Juvenile Justice System to prevent system entrance

  • Participate in weekly team supervision and consultation

  • Builds relationships with community stakeholders (i.e., child protection services, Guardians ad Litem, judges, schools, etc.) to ensure collaboration among service providers

  • Travels throughout assigned borough to conduct sessions with families. Each program serves families throughout the entire borough. Travels to 5 boroughs when needed during treatment.

  • Reports to assigned program supervisor or covering supervisor and attends weekly individual supervision.

  • Conducts assessments including review of referral information, identifying and engaging key participants, identifying systemic strengths and weaknesses and individualized treatment planning and conducts intakes as applicable.

  • Completes timely, clear and concise documentation of treatment efforts, case contacts and model adherent clinical progress.

  • Willingness to incorporate supervisor, consultant and peer feedback into case documentation and conceptualization

  • Manages multiple databases to comply with all stakeholder requirements, including ACS, MST model and OMH.

  • Adopts a strength focused approach with families, stakeholder, and within the program/treatment team.

  • Participates in all required agency, model and stakeholder trainings, individual and group coaching and staff meetings.

  • Adheres to MST-SA model expectations and implement with fidelity.

  • Willingness to meet families and clients in the community and/or places that meet their schedules; which may include accompanying them to psychiatric, school or other community appointments.

  • Attends weekly on-call meetings.

  • Provides 24/7 coverage during the week and participates on a weekend on-call rotational schedule as applicable

  • Consistently meets all program and model Key Performance Indicators (including session pacing, required casework contacts, successful client outcomes, timely completion of Family Assessment Service Plans, data entry, etc.).

  • Identify and address family risk factors that give rise to possible child removal, ACS involvement, and out of home placement due to continued referral behavior or new risk/safety factors. This includes the completion of safety plans and incident reports if necessary.

  • Maintains clear, concise and timely documentation of treatment efforts in progress notes and Family Assessment and Service Planning (FASP) that demonstrate compliance with the MST-SA model and supervisory review feedback.

  • Manages the extensive documentation requirements in all databases to successfully comply with mandates from agency, ACS and model.

  • Identify community-based resources for families, collaborate and build relationships with stakeholders/providers (i.e., ACS, schools, doctors, mental health providers, courts, etc.) to monitor participation in services and accompany families to appointments if needed.

  • Ability to make and manage own schedule (client sessions, completing paperwork and managing other stakeholder meetings)

  • Other duties as assigned.

Please specify area of study:

Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or a related subject area.

Other Requirements:

Preferred experience:

  • Marital therapy using behaviorally-based approaches

  • Substance abuse treatment for adults and children using behaviorally-based approaches

  • Behavioral therapy targeting behavioral change in children at home and school

  • Trauma treatment for adults and children using exposure and cognitive therapies

  • Implementation of interventions within or between systems in the family’s natural ecology (i.e., family, peer, school, and neighborhood)

    Preferred Knowledge:

  • 2-3 years of accumulated experience (internships through post-graduate) providing direct services to youth and their families in their homes and communities

  • An understanding and commitment to complying with the New York State Central Register of Abuse and Neglect protocol (requirements to report any suspected abuse, maltreatment or neglect of any child).

  • Experience with and willingness to work with culturally diverse population

  • Experience in managing direct service providers who engage with the identified populations or similar population in high-risk court-involved youth either in Family Court or Adult Court, Child-Welfare programs.

  • Direct use of pragmatic (i.e. structural, strategic, and functional) family therapies.

  • Implementation of interventions within or between systems in the youth’s natural ecology that affect or influence the behavior of youth (i.e. family, peer, school, and neighborhood)

  • Family systems theory and application

  • Social ecological theory and application

  • Behavioral therapies theory and application

  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy theory and application particularly in the areas of trauma treatment and anger management

  • Exposure based cognitive behavioral trauma treatment

  • Pragmatic family therapies theory and application

  • Research on child physical abuse and neglect

  • Social skills assessment and intervention

  • Strong understanding and the ability to implement the following:

  • Family safety planning

  • Risk and Safety assessments

  • Crisis Management

  • Incident Reporting

  • Creating and following a Treatment Plan

Education

Required

  • Master's Level Degree or better in Psychology
