Lab of Dr. Benjamin T. Himes
Responsibilities
The technician will be responsible for assisting the lab manager and research fellows in the day to day needs of the labs ongoing experiments. This may entail taking count of supplies and maintaining research subjects. This may also entail learning baseline details of the research the lab conducts and how to analyze the data resulting from that research.
The person will:
- Perform simple or moderately complex technical procedures.
require occasional guidance. - May occasionally be responsible for ordering supplies and equipment for the laboratory.
- Rarely train or guide other technical personnel.
- An understanding of simple scientific literature and the research goals and rationale is required.
- Limited skills in the analysis and interpretation of data may be required.
Qualifications
- Bachelors in a Related Science required or equivalent skills and experience required. M.S. strongly preferred.
- 0-2 years experience required, 1 to 2 years in general lab work and cell culture preferred.
- Must be able to calculate concentrations and prepare reagents correctly.
- Organizational skills, detailed oriented, record keeping and initiative required.
