Division Summary

Our Thermo Scientific brand in the analytical instruments group offers customers in research, academic, industrial and applied markets a complete range of high-end analytical instruments as well as laboratory equipment, software and services. In the materials and structural analysis division we design, manufacture, and support the broadest range of high-performance microscopy workflows that provide images and answers in the micro-, nano-, and picometer scales. Our worldwide team of 5,500 employees is dedicated to customers’ pursuit accelerating innovation and driving productivity.

In the Materials and Structural Analysis Division (MSD) Services organization, we are redefining the way we design, develop and deliver services in order to increase value for our customers. This journey started with using data from our systems to initiate pro-active service at our customers, resulting in several commercial offerings around this pro-active service, also including other aspects like application support and workflow validation.

With the growing business prospects for these services comes the need to expand its organization and infrastructural foundations. We have now a position available for a Concept development Lead - Digital Services

The Position:

This position is part of the Service Innovation department in MSD. The main responsibility is to drive innovation for new digital services and ensure a sustainable pipeline.

As the Concept development Lead, you will be part of a small Innovation team focused on identifying customer needs and combining them with technology trends to create new service concepts. You will conduct feasibility studies and collaborate with experts to make informed decisions. The role requires project management skills, understanding of value-adding services, and collaboration with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead concept validations and feasibility studies to explore ideas for new service solutions.

  • Report the progress to the Innovation team

  • Prepare and facilitate workshops, Proof of Concept studies and/or Hackathons.

  • Report out the results to the review board in the Service Innovation Development Process

  • Actively participate in the Program Increment planning process to claim necessary resources from the development organization

  • Engage with customers, Customer Success managers, Service Managers and/or Service Marketing to understand customer needs and business impact

  • Build and maintain excellent connections with the development teams and solution architects in service innovation to support pilots.

  • Participate in defining the technical and product roadmaps

Job Requirements

  • University/higher professional education in a technical field

  • Project management capabilities and experience

  • 5+ years work experience in a b-2-b (digital) service environment

  • Strongly preferred experience in High tech Service business

  • Entrepreneurial, thriving in a dynamic work environment

  • Experience in understanding customer business models and customer needs

  • Excellent communication skills, English language is a must

  • Pioneer and out of the box problem solver with the ability to translate concepts into practice.

  • Strong execution and realization mentality.

  • Experience (or curiosity about building up knowledge) in Design Thinking, Business Model Canvas and Value propositions.

  • Experience in industrial equipment industries (especially Electron Microscopy) would be a bonus.

  • Team-player, Self-starting, persistent, result driven, "Can-do-Will-do" mentality

  • Cultural awareness

  • < 25% travel
