Red Hat Software Quality Engineer - Automotive in Brno, Czech Republic

The Red Hat In-Vehicle Operating System QE Team is looking for a Software Quality Engineer (http://red.ht/QE) to join our team in Brno, Czech Republic. In this role, you will work within the Red Hat In-Vehicle Operating System BaseOS QE team and ensure that packages as glibc (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glibc) on new automotive hardware platforms are FuSA(Functional Safety) and ready for certification. As a Software Quality Engineer, you will design and develop automated/CI testing and tooling to ensure the Red Hat In-Vehicle Operating System fulfills the highest possible enterprise quality, performance, usability, supportability and certification criteria. Within this role you will closely interact with development, partners, and management at Red Hat. You will need to have the ability to think creatively and adapt to rapid change, as well as a willingness to learn new things. Come prepared to work together with some of the brightest engineers in the open source community.

What will you do

  • Work in a cross-functional team to ensure the quality and delivery of a seamless experience for the Red Hat In-Vehicle Operating System in alignment with functional safety requirements.

  • Design, develop and maintain automated test suites written in Python, Bash, and C.

  • Onboard automated tests into a continuous integration (CI) workflow.

  • Perform both automated and manual testing. Debug, report, and track issues and verify fixes.

  • Assure continued quality and user experience of tested products and assess quality of newly developed and planned features.

  • Document and maintain test specifications and test reports.

  • Provide timely, complete, and accurate test status reports to all stakeholders

  • Focus on delivering customer value, analyze feedback, and enhance test coverage by automation

What will you bring

  • Intermediate experience in C/C++ mainly, in addition to other programming language (Python, Bash preferred)

  • Solid skills and background in Linux system administration, including system installation, configuration and maintenance

  • Experience with software test planning, test case design, test script automation, and documentation

  • Excellent debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical skills

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills in English

The following are considered a plus:

  • Experience testing or developing a Linux kernel

  • Hands-on development experience building or testing software for embedded systems, IoT applications, or safety critical applications.

  • Experience working with Linux in embedded devices.

  • Knowledge of Jenkins, Git, GitHub/GitLab and Ansible.

  • Experience working with open source (https://www.redhat.com/en/about/open-source) communities.
