We currently have opportunities for an experienced Senior/Associate Coastal Scientist across our existing UK offices. The successful candidate will become part of a respected and ambitious company with excellent career prospects and international opportunities.

Jacobs Maritime provides specialist technical services in coastal zone infrastructure development. Working within an integrated and forward thinking team of some of the UK’s leading coastal engineers and scientists, you will make a major contribution to projects and packages of work within our established frameworks with leading clients and on stand-alone projects from private and public sector clients across the globe

  • Working as part of a national coastal team, you provide technical leadership to more junior coastal scientists and lead/guide/direct projects and Clients in areas such as:

  • Coastal/shoreline erosion assessment and forecasting of coastal change and shoreline response

  • Coastal process assessment (for engineering/strategy applications and EIA chapters)

  • Geomorphological studies - estuaries, saltmarshes, sand / gravel / mixed beaches, aeolian sand dunes

  • Beach/shoreline management and coastal monitoring programmes and data analysis

  • Coastal habitat creation studies (location identification and design)

  • Coastal planning and policy (SMP/CZMP)

Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing technical leadership and technical oversight for the delivery of coastal projects

  • Liaison with internal clients to develop relationships across the business and form effective teams

  • Form and maintain relationships with external clients where required

  • Aspects of business development such as bid preparation.

  • Work within established quality management systems, ensuring compliance with technical governance arrangements

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • A degree in a coastal/maritime related discipline ideally with a relevant Masters degree or higher relating to a field of coastal science.Chartered with CIWEM, ICE or other relevant organisation
