Starting in 2025, the two-year scheme will see the successful applicants undertake four six-month placements across a number of key disciplines, in different UK locations.

The scheme will provide the successful graduate a chance to cover a diverse range of areas, fundamental to understanding successful Commercial roles within Boeing. We put an emphasis on learning in the workplace with live projects, working across multiple teams and location, supported by theoretical learning and support from colleagues and the Early Careers team.

The successful candidate will perform a number of roles during their time on the scheme interacting with all areas of the Commercial functions of the company.

Commercial placement rotations will be across the following teams within the Commercial Function:

  • Fixed Wing/ Commercial Derivative Aircraft (P8, E7 and C-17)

  • Vertical Lift (Apache & Chinook Helicopters)

  • Digital and Future Programmes (D&FP) (Logistic & Information Services and Collective Training)

  • Policy

Placements in Fixed Wing, Vertical Lift and D&FP will provide the opportunity to work as part of delivery teams under contract and as part of proposal teams for future opportunities .

Tasks in a placement as part of the delivery team will typically include:

  • Lead/support proposal development and negotiation for contract change proposals

  • Attending routine and ad-hoc meetings with external customer and internal programme stakeholders to address contract deliverables, manage progress of activities, resolve issues as they arise

  • Excellent record-keeping and commercial administration of all aspects of contracts

  • Learn the various approaches to problem-solving under contract, from evaluating and stating contractual positions to creating innovative commercial solutions

  • Build excellent customer relationships, act as a key point of contact and develop good business judgment to protect the business, support customer needs and deliver value for money solutions

  • Review, interpretation, negotiation and application of contractual terms in relation to programme activities

  • Understand the delivery environment and financial performance of the contract to proactively identify risks, opportunities, improvement initiatives and work with stakeholders to leverage best outcomes

A placement participating in a proposal team will give you exposure to the pre-signature world of Commercial, providing insight into the development of prospect opportunities working with Business Development & Strategy and working as part of a team on an active bid campaign. Tasks in this placement will likely include:

  • Attending business growth meetings and engaging in new business data to support qualification and strategic shaping of new business prospects

  • Participation in development of commercial strategies to optimise approach to a new opportunity in relation to business strategy and objectives

  • Commercial preparation, review and presentation of accountable topics and tasks to inform governance and business decision-making through all phases of new business opportunities

  • Develop and support commercial deliverables for a bid campaign, including terms and conditions review, liaison with stakeholders, identification of risks, development of estimates and pricing, review of non-commercial documents, management reporting and governance preparation.

  • Support to customer engagement and negotiations, producing briefing materials.

A placement in the Policy Team will provide the opportunity to learn how the Commercial Function supports the wider business away from particular programme matters, including priorities and initiatives relating to legislation and regulations that require commercial participation / influence and improving the overall operations of the function. Tasks in this placement will likely include:

  • Progress management of the scope of the team, providing reports and status updates on a wide range of topics

  • Direct participation and support to engagement in forums with other teams in the business where commercial is leading or supporting an initiative, requiring background research and development of analysis / solutions / artefacts to meet outcomes and objectives

  • Providing communications and guidance information to Commercial Functions and other teams regards policy, process, information updates

  • Engagement with commercial teams and facilitation / development of commercial improvement practices, processes, artefacts.

Essential Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Right to work in UK - We do not sponsor applicants for employment visa status.

  • Studying a degree course or have graduated a degree course within last 2 years

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Qualified to degree level in Business, Law, Finance or similar. No Minimum degree grade or GPA score required

  • Confidence or willingness to present and host meetings

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders of all levels

  • To have forward thinking mind-set and self-motivated

  • Effective communication skills

  • Attention to detail and high focus on quality outputs

  • To be inclusive and enthusiastic
