Project Overview and Role:
The Pacific Labour Facility (PLF) facilitates seasonal and longer-term work opportunities for Pacific workers in Australia. It connects Australian employers with Pacific workers, supports the administration of the Pacific Labour Scheme and provides targeted support to the Seasonal Worker Programme.
This is a 12-month Fixed Term full time position. The Pacific Labour Mobility (PLM) Coordinator will be the Pacific Labour Facility primary representative in relation to the recommencement of Pacific labour mobility in September 2020, following its temporary cessation due to COVID in 2020.
The PLM Coordinator will ensure that relevant stakeholders (internal and external) are kept updated with accurate and timely information. The position will seek to document existing processes and identify possible efficiencies for recommendation.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage information related to PLM internally, ensuring the right people are kept informed at the right times
Support the LSU teams around the flow of information and processes and ensure agreed deadlines are met
Link SWP Approved Employers (AEs) with PLS AEs to negotiate seats on chartered flights
Coordinate and streamline weekly reporting to DFAT, PLF and other stakeholders
Support AES/LSUs to meet border control /quarantine administration requirements within required timeframes
Attend SWP/PLS AE/industry working groups to ensure sending countries capacity and timelines are being respected.
It is essential that you have extensive experience coordinating complex projects or programs involving multiple stakeholders.
It is expected of you to have outstanding interpersonal skills with an ability to operate diplomatically and with cross-cultural sensitivity with government, private sector, and community stakeholders.
You will represent PLF at State, Federal & Industry meetings in relation to Pacific Labour Mobility, you will provide the Labour Sending Units (LSUs) in all nine Pacific Island countries and Timor-Leste with the correct information and updates in regard to State approvals and estimated dates for mobilisation of both Pacific Labour Scheme (PLS) and Seasonal Workers Program (SWP) workers.
The boxes you must tick:
Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, and knowledge and experience of working in inter-governmental relations
High level relationship management skills, including the ability to negotiate for outcomes that are beneficial to clients and communities
Excellent written and oral communications skills with demonstrated experience in using communications strategically for advocacy purposes
Competency in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel and Outlook
Highly developed problem-solving skills, and ability to think innovatively and laterally and strong professional judgement
Flexibility to work after hours and at the weekends (Time off In Lieu provisions in place).
- Experience in international development, aviation/travel, or agriculture.
You must have valid Australian work rights to be considered for this position - visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
