Job Summary

Responsible for low level security assignments with direction from senior team members. Establish basic understanding of Security operations and processes. Create documentation and work activities in a clear, comprehensive manner, always maintaining high quality work. Demonstrates problem solving, research, and functional area knowledge.

Job Description

  • Participates in Security projects/initiatives.

  • Gather data and information according to assigned tasks. Determine appropriate course of action with Supervisory assistance.

  • Develop clear documentation and convey information to senior team members or other agencies, depending on the situation, enabling them to prevent situations from escalating further.

  • Obtain and adhere to strict procedures established to ensure effective and successful operations within Security.

  • Plan activities effectively within the context of assigned projects or tasks.

  • Develop working relationships with other Security personnel to better understand all areas of Security.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR SECURITY SPECIALIST, ASSOC:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • OR Associate's degree with 2 years relevant experience in system administration/help desk, security (cyber or physical) or NERC-CIP compliance

  • OR High School Diploma/GED with 4 years relevant experience in IT system administration/help desk, security (cyber or physical) or NERC CIP compliance

Experience:

  • One or more years of experience in system administration, help desk, security (cyber or physical) or NERC-CIP compliance in addition to any experience identified above.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR SECURITY SPECIALIST, MID-LEVEL:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • OR Associate's degree with one-year relevant experience in system administration/help desk/security (cyber or physical)

  • OR High School Diploma/GED with 2 years relevant experience in IT system administration/help desk/security (cyber or physical)

  • OR graduation from an approved Cybersecurity Program; alternatively, may have non-degree qualifications (such as hands-on demonstrated ability in a technical interview/assessment).No additional experience required in addition to experience identified above.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Some travel and overtime may be required. This position could be required to do shift work or be "On call" 24x7x365.

  • SOC/CIRC: Work shifts that rotate throughout month/year covering all possible schedule variations/rotation possibilities.

  • SOC/CIRC: Plan activities effectively within the context of round-the-clock, shift operations.

Must establish & maintain a permanent residence within a 45-minute safe driving distance to the D.C. Cook Nuclear Plant.

Salary Range posted from minimum - mid-point:

Security Specialist, Assoc. (SG 05) – Security Spec, Mid-level (SG 06): $60,438 - $88,700
