Overview

The Manager, Tax, position is a critical role in the tax department that encompasses a wide range of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the organization’s compliance with tax laws and optimizing its tax position. Focusing on the oversight of the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns in collaboration with external providers. This role is responsible for preparing state apportionment data, managing and updating fixed assets in tax software, and calculating both federal and state tax depreciation.

Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation of US Federal and State tax returns in collaboration external providers.

  • Prepare state apportionment data and prepare apportionment schedules in accordance with the rules of each State.

  • Oversee and update fixed assets in the tax software, including Federal and State tax depreciation calculations.

  • Address Federal, State, and Local tax notices and support audit defense activities.

  • Contribute to the quarterly tax provision process as per ASC 740 standards.

  • Calculate and prepare Federal and State quarterly estimates and annual extension payments.

  • Reconcile global cash tax payment schedules and oversee compliance for Sales & Use and Personal Property/Inventory taxes through third-party management.

  • Stay updated on tax law changes to ensure compliance and effective planning.

  • Assist and support other team members of the tax function by performing ad hoc tax analyses, analytical support, and assistance with special projects as needed.

  • Proactively seek to streamline compliance process and create efficiencies through automation.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or in a related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • CPA and/or Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience

  • 5-8 years of relevant experience in tax, with a preference for domestic income tax (Compliance & Provision) experience

  • Proficient in Excel, with skills in creating formulas and pivot tables; familiarity with Alteryx is advantageous.

  • Capable of multi-tasking and adapting in a dynamic work environment, including collaborative work with diverse team members.

  • Possesses excellent communication, analytical and organizational abilities, with a keen attention to detail.

  • The ideal candidate is creative, assertive, and proactive, with the capacity to quickly absorb new information and effectively manage multiple projects to meet deadlines.
