VMware Consulting Architect - Opportunity for Working Remotely in Bridgeport, Connecticut

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

  • As a Consulting Architect, you will gather and analyze customer requirements to create an architectural design consisting of: cloud infrastructure planning; recommending and planning configurations; validating deployment processes; enhancing operations strategy; and increasing user adoption.

  • You will acquire intimate knowledge of the customer’s business and strategic goals and use your in-depth knowledge of VMware’s Anywhere Workspace solutions—specifically, VMware Workspace ONE and VMware Horizon—to work with customers on building successful implementation roadmaps.

  • During your first month, you will work with a mentor and peers to gain insight and experience to ensure the solution being delivered is fit for purpose through referencing the initial business goals and objectives, demonstrating commercial and scope awareness, and understanding the wider technical landscape and how it relates to/integrates with customer environments. Also, your manager, mentor, and peers will help you gain access to other important internal stakeholders to help you establish your network of contacts across different VMware business units in order to make you successful as a Consulting Architect.

  • Within your first three months, you will be expected to take full ownership of business outcomes, lead technical project teams, and take accountability for all project deliverables—further developing your leadership, technical, and business process skills.

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

  • This is a consulting position, where you will be intensively using technical, consulting, business, and leadership skills. You will work directly with our customers and other VMware employees on the day-to-day activities involved with the post-sales implementation of VMware Workspace ONE and Horizon. You will articulate solution design, integrating both technical and business concepts, and present a transformational journey to project stakeholders. Your goal is to lead the customer through their journey to successfully adopt our platforms for their end users. You will manage customer expectations and work with Project Managers to create project plans with realistic workstream timelines.

  • You will interact with various customers’ teams, from technical engineers and system administrators to business leaders and executives. You will communicate effectively to all audiences—this is key to the success of your projects.

  • We can’t improve without continuously evolving our methodologies, tools, and services. We will count on you to challenge existing delivery processes and identify customer trends in the digital workspace to assist in developing go-to-market strategies and new or revised service offerings. You will also contribute to digital leadership forums (whitepapers, blogs, conferences, etc.).

What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?

The manager for this position will be a seasoned leader within our EUC Professional Services team. You will be part of a 10- to 15-person team that collaborates closely with five other teams in the EUC Professional Services Organization.

Where is this role located?

Remote: You can perform this role while residing anywhere in the continental United States or Canada, as long as you live close to an airport.

Depending on customer requirements, you might need to travel to execute your projects across the US and potentially Canada. Travel typically occurs Monday through Thursday. All travel is currently restricted due to the global pandemic.
