Google Data Center Electrical Engineer in Bridgeport, Alabama

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.

  • 3 years of experience in the Design-Build environment for fast track mission critical facilities (e.g., data centers, chip fab, pharma, power plants, industrial, etc.).

  • Experience in design, construction, and commissioning of medium voltage and low voltage electrical distribution systems to include AC and DC systems and associated power management systems and SCADA tools.

  • Experience in construction administration or construction management.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Professional Engineering license.

  • Experience in estimating, electrical design, operation and commissioning of substations, switchgear, ATP/ATS, and emergency power systems, and their control systems, power monitoring, and electrical protection.

  • Knowledge of large-scale mission critical facilities Electrical/Mechanical infrastructure systems.

With your technical expertise, you ensure compliance with codes and standards, develop infrastructure improvements and serve as an expert in your specialty (e.g., cooling, electrical).

Data Center Services Engineering (DCSEng) is a project and campus focused technical engineering role with a primary focus on providing a technical understanding of Google’s data center design to the field execution and operations teams in support of their initiatives. Additionally, supporting other teams in the development and evaluation of conceptual design.Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $117,000-$172,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Participate in the project specific design review process at 30, 60, 95% releases including conceptualizing ways to reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) while maintaining Google standards.

  • Work with the General Contractor (GC) and Trades to develop a high level understanding of the design intent and on-time development of coordinated design details.

  • Develop a detailed understanding of trade contractors project delivery strategy, planning, zoning, work sequences, etc. to help optimize and align to program level standards.

  • Monitor work in the field to ensure it is being executed in line with Google’s design intent and standards, as well as meeting the local codes and requirements.

  • Support systems startup and commissioning processes by providing a technical understanding of the gear being installed and how the systems are designed to function, including supporting controls and monitoring systems.
