About the position:
We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university and hold an appropriate State of Michigan Teaching Certificate with at least one of the following endorsements: Autism (SV), Cognitive Impairment (SA), Emotional Impairment (SE), or Learning Disability (SM).
Key Responsibilities:
- Instructional Planning and Delivery:
- Utilize creative instructional strategies and best practices to promote interactive learning and student engagement through technology, literature, and writing.
- Plan, organize, and provide individualized and small group instruction within a resource/inclusion room environment.
- Instructional Design:
- Design and implement effective instruction tailored to diverse learning styles and needs.
- Adapt general education curricula, special curriculum, and support materials as needed.
- Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and appropriate records of student progress and instructional strategies.
- Collaboration:
- Serve in a consultative capacity with teachers, parents, and students to support student success.
- Coordinate and attend Multi-Disciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings for students assigned to your caseload.
- Knowledge and Compliance:
- Stay informed about disabilities and their educational implications.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of special education state and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
- Physical and Mental Stamina:
- Exhibit the mental and physical ability to meet the demands of the position.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university.
- Valid State of Michigan Teaching Certificate with relevant endorsements.
- Proficient in technology and open to exploring innovative techniques to enhance student achievement.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
