This will be done at the Health Center Lab or on the homes, depending on circumstances. After collecting specimens, the technician will prepare these specimens for shipment to Austin and enter a record of all specimens in the ASH database. Hours for this position are 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with one hour off for lunch.Essential Job FunctionsAttends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.Draws blood from BSSLC individuals as ordered by PCPand#146;s or Psychiatrists.and#149; Prepares samples for transport to the Austin State Hospital Laboratory according to established protocols. This may include and#147;spinning downand#148; blood samples, drawing serum off the blood as required, refrigerating samples as appropriate, and pooling specimens for courier pick-up at 2:00 p.m.and#149; Prepares urine samples for transport.and#149; Labels all specimens.and#149; Ability to work efficiently and maintain an organized environment.and#149; Maintain on hand stock of all Lab supplies; order department suppliesand#149; Logs in both manually and EHR, all tests to be done on specimens obtained that day.and#149; Documents all draws in the EHR (IRIS) with relevant information from that draw (ie Which arm/leg, vein, any notable information)and#149; Reviews daily morning lab schedules, communicating any issues to PCPand#146;s and Psychiatrists.and#149; Logs in any orders for tests or specimens that have been sent to the Scott and White Hospital lab in Brenham; the lab technician will obtain and distribute the results of these tests.and#149; Schedules appropriate annual, semi-annual and other lab tests following standing or new orders for individuals.and#149; Performs EKGand#146;s as required.Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agencyand#146;s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) activation.
