U.S. Pacific Fleet, Commander in Chief SUPV ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL) in Bremerton, Washington

Summary You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL) in the Engineering and Planning Department, Fleet Technical Support Division of PSNS and IMF serving as a Supervisory Diesel Inspector. Responsibilities You will oversee a branch that provides technical and administrative control of diesel engine inspections/certifications and engineering services. You will investigate, analyze and recommend corrective action for problems pertaining to design, installation, maintenance, repair and operation of assigned shipboard machinery and systems. You will schedule/coordinate and support periodic and after-casualty diesel engine inspections to assess the condition/safety of propulsion or electric power generation diesel engines and associated equipment. You will provide onboard maintenance and operator training to ship's company. You will coordinate background investigations and research into complex machinery equipment and system problems. You will plan work to be accomplished, set priorities, and approve work schedules prepared by subordinates. You will evaluate performance of subordinates. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: serving as a Diesel Engine Inspector (DEI) providing technical engineering guidance and support by resolving critical issues and making recommendations to ensure proper maintenance, repair and safe operations of diesel engine machinery and system components.
