Skookum is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join our team. The Senior Staff Account is a key leader within the finance department, responsible for guiding the team in executing essential accounting functions such as preparing journal entries, maintaining balance sheet schedules, and performing ledger and bank reconciliations. This role is pivotal in driving the monthly closing process, providing insightful account analysis, and supporting management in achieving the department's financial objectives. As a leader, the Sr. Staff Accountant inspires and mentors a General Ledger (GL) team of 4-5 employees, fostering a culture of accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement to ensure a successful and timely month-end close. Typical duties of a Senior Staff Accountant include but are not limited to: Assist in the creation and enforcement of accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency. Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation of internal controls and procedures for assigned tasks. Ensure accurate and timely execution of monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes. Prepare and enter journal entries with appropriate work tags, ensuring proper recording of operational revenue and expenses. Review and reconcile Balance Sheet accounts on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities in a prompt and accurate manner that aligns with monthly closing deadlines. Review State and Local personal property tax filings across various states, ensuring compliance and accuracy. Assist in preparing and maintaining audit schedules, including supporting documentation and quarterly reviews with management in preparation for annual audits. Coordinate and ensure all bank transactions, including wires, ACH, deposits, and loans, are accurately recorded. Jointly manage cashflow, and coordinates with CFO Line of Credit Access. Assist in the monthly analysis of operational expenses, business line and position alignment by Main Contract. Support Project Accountants in various monthly functions and serve as a backup when needed. Coordinate the procurement of high-value fixed assets. Post recurring and expensing journal entries for prepaid transactions, run amortization, track, and reconcile prepaid account.
