THE OPPORTUNITY

Responsible for providing the planning, coordination, utilization and administration of MS-SQL relational databases and other file organization and access methods. The Sr. Database Administrator is responsible for ensuring appropriate definition, organization, security, integrity, operational efficiency, operational support, scheduling and documentation of the databases. Sr. Database Administrator acts as the arbiter over the structure and contents of critical databases, establishing and enforcing rules, standards and guidelines, establishes written guidelines for the overall use of database management systems. Performs all duties in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures, all U.S. state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the Company operates.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Recommends database management systems, hardware platforms and data distributions to be used in system implementations, including those operating on a 24 hour basis.

  • Assigns and controls names used for the various portions of data base to include, transaction codes, elements, tables, records, schema and sub-schema.

  • Ensures adequate security safeguards are in place to control access to all databases.

  • Ensures the integrity of data base files through the daily monitoring of database backups, logs, journals and transaction statistics.

  • Oversees the proper distribution and controlled replication of data across agency processors.

  • Designs the physical implementation of logical database requirements, to include de-normalization when required.

  • Plans and executes performance tests of physical data base designs.

  • Allocates disk space for new data tables and monitors space utilization for existing data tables.

  • Makes adjustments to table sizes and locations to ensure efficient use of resources and to optimize performance.

  • Manages schema and sub-schema libraries, and responds to requests for data views.

  • Implements database backup and recovery plans, and performs database recoveries and coordination with other areas of the IT department.

  • Monitors and reviews operating statistics for conformance to performance standards and overall system performance goals.

  • Directs the maintenance and the installation of new releases of database software.

  • Maintains documentation about test and production database environments to help resolve potential production problems.

  • Creates, oversees, and/or assists in the maintenance of a database reference materials library to ensure that staff has access to current procedures affecting use of the database.

  • Analyzes and evaluates various data base software packages and design aids for possible use in the computing environment. Interacts with vendors, negotiates prices and recommends purchases.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 5 years’ of related work experience and/or training. Work related experience must consist of system analysis and/or programing, and database administration.

  • Knowledge of MySQL and Oracle databases.

  • In depth experience in the use of Core Banking and Platform automation systems including design, instillation, system modifications, trouble shooting, and day-to-day support.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of, adherence to, monitoring and responsibility for compliance with state and federal regulations and laws as they pertain to this position including but not limited to the following: Regulation Z (Truth in Lending Act), Regulation B (Equal Credit Opportunity Act), Fair Housing Act (FHA), Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) in conjunction with the USA PATRIOT Act, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Customer Information Program (CIP), Right to Financial Privacy Act (RFPA, state and federal) and Community Reinvestment Act (CRA).

  • Advanced knowledge of and ability in database programming techniques, such as application development, maintenance, documentation, testing, debugging, and computer operations. Advanced skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; mainframe computer system; word processing and spreadsheet software programs.

  • Ability to devise new procedures, implements enhanced database administration techniques, and implement improvements to existing database applications.

  • Advanced skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; Microsoft Office applications including but not limited to: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • Intermediate math skills; calculate interest and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs.

  • Exceptional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to make decisions that have significant impact on the immediate work unit and cross functional departments.

  • Ability to provide consultation and expert advice to management.

  • Ability to work with little to no supervision while performing duties.

SALARY RANGE

The base salary ultimately offered is determined through a review of education, industry experience, training, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant in alignment with market data and other factors.
