The President is accountable to the CEO of the Eurofins US Food Division for the successful completion of assigned duties and responsibilities and has the authority to take action necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of this position. In this role you will be responsible for Operations of the Boranicals business in Brea, CA and EML Salt Lake City UT and EML Madison businesses.  Responsible for establishing performance metrics for key core processes and driving process improvement efforts across these sites. These process improvement efforts would include improving turnaround time of results, driving automation to make the business more competitive, and reducing testing rework.  Drive culture change in the organization to continue our path towards becoming a customer centric and growth oriented organization.

  • Advise in the creation of policies and procedures concerning the quality system of the laboratory.

  • Responsible for long-term technical strategic planning, both internally and directing resources to support activities in the trade and in analytical science, botanical and supplement communities.

  • Directing activities and setting policies, procedures, and guidelines for the quality system, business, and technical practices.

  • Providing the resources, support, and leadership for ensuring operational compliance with the ISO/IEC 17025 (2017) standard.

  • Supporting commercial activities including customer service, sales, customer agreements, vendor agreements.

  • Providing the resources, support, and leadership for ensuring operational excellence through innovation, lean activities, process improvements in the laboratory, and business activities.

  • Daily business communications with clients and industry contacts, including strategic planning and test program development, performance capabilities of methods, and customer satisfaction.

  • Administrative oversight of developmental activities including review of new method proposals, periodic review of developmental progress.

  • Participation and Leadership in Scientific Communities and Trade Associations related to the brand and business.

  • Provide support and guidance for instrumentation and equipment activities, including long-range planning, performance investigation, acquisition, and review of operational and maintenance procedures.

  • Recruit, promote or develop talented leaders for all Eurofins Companies and Business Units under your responsibility.

  • Lead according to Eurofins Leadership Charter and act as a role model for leadership and staff. Eurofins leadership principles give a very large degree of autonomy to each Business’ MD (within agreed upon financial and operational performance measures).

  • Lead and support the development of the individual performance of the BU Managers / Managing Directors of businesses of your Business Line.

  • Define and agree on goals and milestones with BU Managers and, as applicable, laboratory managers, and ensure goals are defined and communicated to their respective teams.

  • Set up customer centric Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor progress. Follow up as appropriate and become hands on if required to ensure achievement of goals.

  • Lead the decision-making process related to large investments.

  • Overall responsibility for Quality of services and compliance with all legal and contractual obligations in all businesses in your scope.

  • Support the leaders under your responsibility in projects related to the building / commissioning / expansion of new and existing sites as and if agreed with the Group Operating Council.

  • Develop with the management of the companies or Business Units under your responsibility,

  • Prepare and propose annual budget and 3 years plan. Report on any deviations to deliver agreed upon results to your shareholders.

  • Together with the leaders of each Business Unit (BU), develop sales and marketing strategy with a view to win rapidly business in the areas where Eurofins Scientific operates profitably.

  • Initiate new businesses or develop existing capabilities in segments where strong market positions can be rapidly attained.

  • Investigate and assess potential acquisition targets and contribute to acquisition negotiations. 

     

The President shall have a Bachelor degree, MBA preferred with business experience and at least 5 years of experience in the analytical testing environment, preferably in food testing.

  • 10+ years of leadership and management experience

  • 12 + years of experience in operational roles

  • Documented ability to work in a large dectralized scientific business.

  •  Demonstrated experience developing relatioships across various teams and levels. . 

  • Strong process and business acumen

  • Strong operational and financial background

  • Ability to learn new tasks

  • Ability to think critically and solve problems quickly and efficiently

  • Preferred Six/LEAN Sigma Green/Black Belt background

  • Excellent interpersonal, attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills

  • Responsive, independent problem solver and action oriented.
