Brasher Falls Central School District Substitute Registered Nurse (RN) in Brasher Falls, New York

Key Responsibilities:<br> Provide critical care services to medically fragile students as assigned<br> Administer medications according to physicians' orders<br> Administer asthma medication using a nebulizer when applicable<br> Maintain medication records and reports<br> Assist with personal hygiene tasks for assigned student(s)<br> Maintain effective communication with medical, nursing, and district personnel<br> Manage and provide health room services, including first aid and CPR, following established procedures<br> Transport and supervise any student needing immediate care<br> Perform medical procedures as ordered by students' physicians<br> Provide guidance and counseling on health matters to students, staff, and parents according to professional standards<br> Maintain accurate nurse's notes and records, including summaries of services provided<br> Report all cases of diagnosed or suspected communicable disease to the necessary agencies<br> Maintain an inventory of health room supplies<br> Manage food allergies in the school setting and administer epinephrine in case of anaphylaxis<br> Report environmental conditions that may affect the safety and health of students and staff<br> Adhere to the school's emergency action plan, including the use of an AED<br> Perform other duties as assigned by the school district or ESS<br> Knowledge and Skills:<br> Follow oral and written directions<br> Establish effective working relationships with staff and students<br> Follow students' IEP/504 plans to properly administer medications and care for injured or ill students<br> Work with frequent interruptions<br> Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality regarding student, staff, and parent information<br> Special Requirements:<br> Attend orientation/training and complete required district and state credentialing requirements (background check, fingerprinting)<br> Physical Requirements:<br> Frequent sitting, walking, standing, stooping, and occasional lifting of equipment and materials<br> Vocal communication for exchanging ideas; hearing required for normal spoken word levels<br> Visual acuity for preparing and analyzing data, determining accuracy, and observing surroundings<br> Occasional movement of students using wheelchairs or other devices<br> Daily close contact with children to provide medical care<br> Regular contact with other staff members and building administrators on assigned days as a substitute<br> <br> RN - $125.00/day
