Actalent Animal Care Technician in Branford, Connecticut

Job Title: Animal Care TechnicianJob Description

Duties include processing animal cages using equipment in the Sanitation unit on either the clean or dirty side and/or specific washing center. Detect and report malfunctioning and/or defective equipment. Fill clean cages with measured amount of animal food and bedding. Process equipment through rack washer and autoclave. Fill water bottles, sanitize floors and walls, and may assist in training and/or instructing staff on sanitation. Maintain required activity logs and records. May perform duties as a driver assistant. Responsibilities: 1. Operate animal care processing equipment according to safety guidelines on either clean or dirty sides and/or specific washing centers. 2. Transport dirty caging to the washing center to disassemble for proper cage wash processing. 3. Fill clean cages with measured amount of animal food and bedding and reassemble caging. 4. Provide clean supplies and equipment to research faculty and staff using animal facilities. 5. Perform cleaning and disinfecting of assigned areas throughout the animal research facilities. 6. Receive and put away supplies in appropriate areas. 7. Act as the driver’s helper to assist with moving equipment between facilities. 8. Assist in training and/or instructing staff on sanitation tasks appropriate to level. 9. Maintain accurate departmental support area record keeping. 10. Perform other duties as assigned.
