Chemtrade Maintenance Engineer in Brandon, Manitoba
Scope of the Position
This position is responsible for assisting the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Department in all activities and for the mechanical integrity program. The Maintenance Engineer will support and participate in the Responsible Care Program to ensure safe working conditions. Responsible for ensuring the site follows the Management of Change (MOC) process for all changes made to equipment, procedures and personnel. Become knowledgeable of the operation of the plant for the purpose of becoming an On-Call Supervisor for nights, weekends and holiday coverage.Environmental, Health & Safety
What You Need To Be Successful
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
One to five years of manufacturing experience preferably in a chemical or petro-chemical environment
Experience with predictive maintenance technologies (vibration analysis, etc.) is a plus
Must be a team player, able to direct and lead others.
Must be self-motivated with excellent communication and problem solving skills.
Initiate, manage and complete capital projects as assigned.
Develop and document project scope, schedule and cost details.
Coordinate outside engineering firms for detailed engineering of complex projects.
Initiate, prepare, issue and administer Capital Allocation Requests for capital projects.
Hire, and manage qualified outside contractors for project construction.
Execute projects as approved and in accordance with the capital plan.
Manage projects consistent with Responsible Care and Process Safety Management guidelines.
Utilize Change Management processes, perform Process Hazard Analyses and complete Pre-Startup Safety Reviews.
Develop and communicate Contractor Safe Work plans.
Audit Safe Work Permits and Contractor work performance to ensure compliance with safety and quality expectations.
Support the Maintenance Department in solving technical issues related to plant equipment.
Lead the Brandon Plant’s program for inspection of lifting equipment. Support other facilities as needed to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Lead the Brandon Plant’s pressure vessel management program and pressure relief valve maintenance program. Support other facilities as needed to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives and projects to support safety and cost improvements across the facility.
Lead efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities and facilities.
Define, design, develop, monitor, and refine maintenance strategies based on asset performance.
Review plant history and other technical files to identify/resolve opportunities for improvements.
Conduct lifecycle costing analyses on new, problematic, and aging assets.
Apply value analysis to repair/replace, repair/redesign and make/buy decisions.
Track Key Process Indicators and identify areas for improvement.
