Job Summary

This position manages general accounting and/or financial reporting functions. Oversees general ledger accounts and ensures accuracy of financial statements. Ensures accuracy in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) and the company's policies and procedures and internal controls. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure appropriate delegation of work and manage the accounting staff.
  • Manage daily accounting and reporting activities for investment accounting.
  • Implement accounting policies and procedures.
  • Manage account reconciliations.
  • Prepare financial analyses and financial reports and statistics for management.
  • Review financial statements.
  • Ensure financial accountability and minimize financial risk for the organization.
  • Ensure company compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP), and governmental regulations. Assist as needed on SOX 404 documentation and controls.
  • Streamline accounting operations. Implement and maintain procedures to improve workflow efficiencies

Job Qualifications

  • CPA Required
  • Bachelor's degree, in accounting preferred

  • Eight to ten years of accounting experience

  • Experience supervising/managing others

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and SAP, general ledger accounting software packages, and external reporting requirements.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, strong organizational skills.

  • Strong leadership skills.

  • Proficiency in MS suite including Excel and Word

The expected starting salary range for this role is$131,000 - $188,000. The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint. Additional considerations include relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.
