Canadian Tire Team Lead - Fleet Operations in Brampton, Ontario

What you’ll do

Our Transportation Operations team is looking for a Team Lead – Fleet Operations to join Canadian Tire Corporation. This position will have the main responsibility to provide leadership and direction ensuring all team members execute business processes accurately and efficiently, with safety in mind and to the standards set by the Transportation Fleet Operations Manager. The Team Lead will be responsible to manage a team of Dispatchers, Agency Drivers, and Fleet Tractor assets. The Team Lead must be proficient in customer service, dispatch activities and have an understanding of Fleet Operations and partnering with Driver Agencies. This position will also ensure that our store customers, internal supply chain stakeholders, vendor partners, carriers and other service providers are supported in the completion of the transportation plan. In addition, the dispatch offices operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; team lead coverage will be required as per business requirements.

  • Ensure CTC Fleet meets targets for on time deliveries to our Store customers, pickups from vendors, rail drayage and yard transfers.

  • Lead a Team of Dispatchers and Driver Agency Partners; ensuring appropriate resources are scheduled to meet daily operational needs.

  • Manage team vacation schedules, stat holiday schedules, flex days, to ensure business needs are achieved, with proper training & skills across the team.

  • Communicate Driver Agency capacity requirements to ensure our Tractor Fleet is fully utilized.

  • Communicate with Drivers on a daily basis to ensure business needs are achieved, and help resolve conflicts and operational issues.

  • Collaborate with garage staff to ensure timely maintenance & repairs for our Tractor Fleet.

  • Proactively perform store load monitoring to prevent, identify, resolve and communicate any load delays, issues, or conflicts.

  • Communication with team members regarding operational, departmental and divisional information.

  • Ensure understanding of safety, operating and escalation procedures and be able to operate under these parameters; fully understand actions to take if our Fleet is involved in an accident.

  • Act on resource plans provided by management.

  • Ensure the integrity of the information within the CTC systems.

  • Assign tasks, provide feedback and coaching to team members on a daily basis.

  • Work in assigned areas alongside team members to meet goals and objectives.

  • Leverage Power BI Fleet reporting to ensure specific service levels are maintained.

  • Recommend operational resource requirements based on business overview.

  • Promote and support implementation of process, procedural and technological changes.

  • Participate in daily dispatch activities and projects as assigned.

What you bring

  • Minimum five years’ experience in Transportation, Customer Service or Supply Chain environment.

  • Post-Secondary degree or Professional Designation.

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) in English.

  • Well-developed working knowledge of transportation regulations.

  • Knowledge of transportation systems (i.e. JDA, OTM, Yard Management Systems, Solera Omnitracs) and intermediate with Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI tools.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills; ability to multi task and juggle priorities on a daily basis.

  • Flexible hours depending on business requirements.

  • Previous dispatch and transportation experience.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Hours of Work Legislation, Transportation of Dangerous Goods and the Highway Traffic Act.

  • Excellent geographical knowledge of Canada.

  • Knowledge of CN & CP Intermodal Operations.
