Position Summary:
T he Charge Nurse will work to ensure that the clinical team ( s ) function at optimal efficiency so that care is delivered in a holistic, patient-centered way that advances quality outcomes for patients . Working with other staff and provider teams, the Charge Nurse will direct clinical nursing, ensure proper staffing, and monitor performance data to advance the organizational mission.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Assumes role of lead nurse in the clinic (also see Nurse job description) .
Leads huddles , pre -visit planning and collaborates with primary care team ( s ) to plan for patient care each day.
Anticipates and prepares examination room with equipment and supplies required for the visit.
Assists provider with examinations and procedures per request.
Triage patients, collecting vitals, review of systems, health history, and medication reconciliation, and completes appropriate screening tools.
Manages patient cases and medication refill requests for primary care team.
Provides basic education information to patients and family, focusing on self-care appropriate to their age and identified learning considerations and needs.
Administers medications per provider orders.
Administers vaccines to patients in accordance with current vaccine schedules.
Performs lab testing including quality controls, maintains all laboratory/diagnostic test logs, and reports all critical lab values immediately .
Provides patient education to patients and family, focusing on self-care appropriate to their age and identified learning considerations and needs .
Effectively uses the electronic medical record for charting patient nursing visits and telephone contacts.
Facilitates telehealth visits with providers at other One Health sites.
Under the direction of the Clinic Operations Director :
P rovides onsite supervision to clinical support staff and administrative oversight to nonclinical support staff.
S chedul es medical assistants and nursing s taff .
Collaborates and contributes to employee performance evaluations by offering performance observations, clinical competency information and peer consultations.
Assists with staff meeting agenda development and facilitation as needed .
Responsible for ordering medical supplies , maintaining all clinic equipment , and completing all q uality a ssurance /quality control related activities .
Manages vaccine program .
Provides education/ training and competency review as necessary for nursing and medical assistant staff.
Works collaboratively with other health center staff in meeting accreditation and other regulatory and/or funding requirements.
Adheres to all One Health Policies and Procedures.
Participates in quality assurance, performance optimization and risk management activities as required .
Cooperates and abides by all elements of One Health ’s Compliance Program.
Provides exceptional customer service and models the mission of One Health when interacting with internal and external stakeholders promoting a positive image for the health center.
Performs other duties as assigned or required with or without prior notification by supervisor.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education /Certificates/Licenses :
Required
Active Registered Nurse(RN) License for Montana
Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
Current , unencumbered licens e in the state of Montana or able to attain .
BLS certifi cation upon hire
Valid driver’s license
Preferred
Bachelor’s Degree in nursing
Experience:
Required
Two years’ experience in community health and/or physician’s office
One-year supervis ory experience in a healthcare setting
Preferred
Experience in diverse cultures preferred
Experience in a behavioral health and substance use programs ( e.g. integrated care, Medication Assisted Treatment)
