JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our Procurement Engineering team in the role of Design Engineer.
Reporting to the Manager of Design Engineering, this position is responsible to contribute to Ontario Power Generation by coordinating and collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders to understand design inputs and requirements, schedules, finances and performance for the assigned projects.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Provide technical and process support to field work, under Projects, Work Order Holds and Project Control Center (PCC) actions
Prepare design, calculations, design bills of material and address design related field issues
Provide advice and/or direction to Design Leads, review designs and sign Field Initiated Changes
Perform field inspections, acceptance and approvals
Prepare Design Change Packages such as Modifications, Temporary Modifications and Non-Identical Component Replacements
Maintaining written documented processes and procedures to reflect improved operating methods and additions to all supported systems
Provide Engineering Change Control guidance, provide active support to field issues and Field Initiated Changes, and facilitate a positive outcome with EPC vendors
Understand impacts on cost and schedule, and provide support to minimize impacts driving projects
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering - Mechanical or Mechatronics preferred or Electrical
2-6 years of experience of relevant engineering experience
Mechanical Design experience, preferably with related experience on industrial construction projects
Experience in Procurement Engineering would be a strong asset.
Relevant work experience within design engineering and experience with Nuclear Codes and Standards would be ideal.
Experience and ability as a team player to understand and manage the interrelationships of various internal and external groups in order to facilitate objectives and ensure projects satisfy stakeholder requirements
Strong written and verbal communication skills and must be comfortable leading meetings and giving presentations
Skill in using 3D CAD tools (particularly Solidworks) is desirable.
Candidate must be a fully licensed engineer in the province of Ontario, or be eligible to be licensed in the Province of Ontario.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
