About the Role

To lead, direct, and support Press Team Members safely and efficiently, to coordinate and communicate with other departments, follow safe work methods, and to conform to the Employee’s Charter principles and plant standards.

Your Responsibilities

  • Help develop a team that can safely meet the business’s needs.

  • Know and understand Bowling Green Metalforming Quality and Environmental policies.

  • Promote Andon Procedure and follow it. Stop the job per criteria. Document on board. Issue a TA immediately for rejects that are over minimum. Support escalation process when required. Be available in the immediate area to be able to respond to team member’s requests for help.

  • Follows and supports and Magna’s operating principles.

  • Maintain integrity of quality to ensure all parts meet customer specification and ran to recipe.

  • Routinely make visual inspections of emergency evacuation routes correcting any safety concerns immediately.

  • Within 24 hours of an accident/incident complete accident investigations identifying root cause and corrective action.

  • Conduct weekly safety talks in pre-shift meetings.

  • Coordinate and assign job responsibility for team members.

  • Assist in maintaining team member performance reviews.

  • Achieve first time quality and efficiency to meet production requirements.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting.

  • Immediately attend to all accidents and injuries and initiate the accident and injury investigation program, while following up to ensure procedure implementation and completion.

  • Support company and customer quality systems, continuous improvement and lean manufacturing process. Encourage team to generate Continuous Improvement suggestions for improvements.

  • Follow and comply with all operational procedures and policies.

  • Initiate and administer corrective actions as required.

  • Schedule, supervise, coordinate and direct the activities of team members and equipment to ensure that quality and productivity standards are met.

  • Support the Production Manager, Area Leader, BUL and Assistant General Manager.

  • Develop and facilitate on-the-job team member training using Job Instruction/TWI methodology utilizing Job Element Sheets and update training matrixes and proficiency checklists.

  • Understand and promote Magna’s philosophies and Employee’s Charter

  • Follow and enforce all plant safety rules and policies

  • Ensure daily pre-shift inspections are completed and conduct planned inspection audits on each shift. Complete Layered Process Audits and 5S Audits daily for designated area.

  • Utilize interactive management principles when implementing corrective discipline procedures in dealing with Team Members, encourage professional development to enhance team performance, and cross train to maximize flexibility and coverage to accommodate vacations and absences.

  • Schedule, supervise, coordinate and direct the activities of team members and equipment to ensure that quality and productivity standards are met.

  • Participate/initiate continuous improvements and take advantage of cost reduction opportunities.

  • Participate and implement Lean activities as they are introduced such as 5S, Kanban, PDCA’s and Standardized work.

  • Act on behalf of the Area Leader in during absences.

  • Report to work 30 minutes prior to shift production start time for preparation and communication purposes.

  • Perform other duties as required including filling in for operators when necessary such as restroom breaks, etc.

  • Team Leader to audit Team Members once a week that they are following standardized work per the Job Element Sheets and Standard Work Charts.

  • Fill out and review Hour x Hour sheets (each hour), record problems and corrective actions for issues related to production, quality, safety, or other Team Member concerns. Participate and lead problem solving activities in designated area.

Who we are looking for

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Post-secondary education preferred, or related experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 1-3 years experience in a manufacturing, stamping environment preferred

  • Leadership and supervisory experience in a preferred

  • Ability to promote healthy employee relations in workplace

  • Knowledge of OSHA

  • Knowledge of DOL compliance guidelines

  • Weld training preferred
