Description/Job Summary Vanity Fair Brands, a division of Fruit of the Loom, an independent, wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. & leading international basic apparel company, has an immediate opening for a Merchandising Manager-Vanity Fair Lingerie *at its Corporate Headquarters in Bowling Green, KY. The Manager Merchandising is responsible for working with their Design and Marketing peers to plan the product assortments and product needs for the brand and understanding the competitive landscape to plan strategies to grow the brand. Responsibilities include leading and managing functions of the product development calendar and line process to ensure timely and effective execution of product initiatives. Interprets trends and fashion direction to relate to the category while incorporating consumer needs. Provides direction to the Design and Product Development team to fulfill product objectives and achieve desired margins. Drives product through the development process from idea to delivery. Establish control standards and procedures. In addition, the Manager Merchandising is responsible for leading the Merchandising team for the category they manage to achieve the business objectives. *Responsibilities/Duties Project Management: * Drive growth plans and category objectives through competitive insights and in-depth knowledge of industry and consumer. * Contribute to the creation of on-trend and market right assortment strategies. * Provides leadership and direction to develop a collaborative work environment with cross-functional teams by resolving and recommending ways to continually improve processes and team interaction. * Oversees sample distribution process * Oversees the preparation of materials and set-up for key meetings. * Lead and contribute to PLM functions as it relates to color and color/size details. * Lead and guide team on special projects. 20% Trend/Color: * Leads the identification of emerging trends based on research and knowledge of the market landscape inclusive of retail stores and ecommerce. * Communicates color and market trends to the internal organization and our retail partners. * Ensure execution of key deliverables for color planning processes from initial color development to production including management of color development timelines, timely communication with color team, and ensuring readiness in time for sample creation and production. 5% Strategic Focus * Lead efforts to ensure competitive audits and communication clearly support growth plan initiatives. * Manage timing of competitive audits, reporting and communication facilitation. * Provide analytical insights on the competitive landscape. * Provide guidance to team on the type of competitive assessments needed and how to clearly identify how it impacts the brand. * Understand the strategic goals and support the organization in achieving short term and long term goals. * Identify gaps within the current product assortment, gaps on retail floor, and competitive analysis by staying abreast of marketplace. 40% Product Development * Lead creation and maintenance of line plan. * Partner with cross functional teams to manage the seasonal timelines ensuring all key deliverables are met. * Collaborate with Design teams to achieve seasonal objectives including development timelines, pricing, product quality, and overall aesthetic. * Works with key cross functional teams such as Design and Marketing on costing and margin goals for new and existing programs/items. 10% Presentations/Communication: * At the Company's direction, prepare, present and appear in person or via live or recorded broadcasts, in consumer-facing presentations, videos and other communications. Through any media outlet, present information about the Company's brands and products. * Assist preparing necessary information needed for presentations, decks, boards, competitive product, etc. 10% Team Management: * Provide management to members of Merchandising team. * Assist in training of department staff on merchandising process and procedures. * Responsible for day-to-day management of assigned staff. * Manages performance and provides timely feedback. * Support the continuous improvement of the Merchandising team process and performance. * Leads team members that have direct reports on how to guide, develop and coach their direct reports. 15% Required Experience 6+ years of experience in either Design, Merchandising, or Retail. 1 year of experience managing direct reports. Required Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Merchandising and/or Design or equivalent years of professional experience required. * Strong leadership skills applicable across the organization. * Ability to multi-task and manage many projects simultaneously. * Superior attention to detail and accuracy. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to build effective relationships with key stakeholders and interface with various levels of management. * Ability to exercise independent judgment and decision making skills. * Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). * Excellent creativity and strong sense of style. * Able to keep on top of new consumer trends.
