The incumbent fulfills manufacturing and supplementary processes to produce and deliver a variety of products targeted for business segments supported by the Bowling Green facility and to assure an uninterrupted supply of quality products to the customer. The incumbent will be proficient in Press operations and Post Bond operations. Additional indirect job functions will be performed as necessary. Schedule workload and maintain quality records and control points of related equipment. Candidate must be willing to work 2nd or 3rd shift. In this position the incumbent is required to operate various presses in multiple machine combinations and related equipment to produce a variety of quality finished parts. To make various quality checks and adjustments to equipment during production runs to solve manufacturing difficulties.

Skill and Knowledge:

  • The incumbent will possess the skill and knowledge of simple and complex processes with limited supervisory guidance. He/She will understand the intricacies and mechanics involved in the manufacturing process. The incumbent will show initiative and adaptability to learn new skills and knowledge, and a desire to take on a team role within the department. Quality of Work:

  • This includes the accurately following procedures, processes and completing paperwork. Provide accurate data to other departments. Recognize, communicate and correct problems with materials, equipment, and out of the normal occurrences. Report errors and help to resolve and limit potential problems. Quantity and/or Productivity:

  • Planning and organizing work to achieve effective use of time. Begin and end work on time, i.e. start and end of shift; before and after lunch and breaks, scheduling break to allow continuous production when required. Complete work correctly the first time to eliminate rework. Safety:

  • Understand and follow plant safety practices and procedures. This includes knowledge of material hazards, MDSD, emergency and spill procedures, and root causes analysis to proactivelyimprove safety within the facility. Know when to use safety equipment such as eyeglasses, gloves, protective clothing, and use this equipment when necessary. Provide safety suggestions where appropriate. Keep areas neat and clean; do not block exits, aisles, or fire extinguishers. Personal Characteristics:

  • Initiative: Show the degree of initiative necessary to meet all requirements of the position. Provide the individual effort to accomplish all tasks and assignments with quality and timeliness. Press Operations:

  • This position reports to the production manager of the Bowling Green facility, also reports to the Production Manager as well as Shift Coordinators and Team leaders. The incumbent is responsible for producing quality parts to a pre-determined schedule in an effort to reach department goals. The incumbent is empowered to seek support necessary to insure quality. This position is required to show proficiency on the job by a certification exam as well as meeting performance goals. Employee is required to follow all operating procedures and specifications and perform required tests. Prepare necessary paperwork and records, as needed, and obtain necessary approval to run job. Demonstrate ability to recognize visual defects and take the necessary action required for correction. Employee must demonstrate an ability to read and understand product drawings.

  • Complete work correctly the first time to eliminate rework, repackaging, and/or scrapping the product. Take the initiative to ensure the job is completed in a timely manner. Recommend ways to improve the process for greater productivity and/or quality. Demonstrate teamwork to work effectively with Supervisor, and/or Group Leader, co-workers and other departments and shift to help and improve overall effectiveness of the department. Post Bond Activities and Miscellaneous Operations: Follow procedures, processes and complete paperwork in a timely manner. Neatly and accurately prepare records and reports, as required. Recognize, communicate and correct problems with equipment and advise management of abnormal occurrences. Properly clean equipment and ensure work area is clean and orderly. Communicate with production Supervisor and/or Work Leader essential information such as status of work, possible errors and or potential problems. Pay attention to detail and check work to ensure accuracy to prevent potential problems.

  • Effectively complete post bond operations such as cleaning, assembly, small machining elements, packing for subco operations, inspections, and testing. Some or all of these activities may apply to successfully manufactured parts.

  • Effectively complete work in the most efficient and timely manner possible. Utilization of time includes planning and organizing work accordingly. Demonstrate the capability of setting controls and making necessary checks and adjustments within operating procedures to ensure production rates are met and improved. Begin and end work on time. Complete works correctly the first time to eliminate rework, repackaging, and/or scrapping the product. Take the initiative to ensure the job is completed in a timely manner. Recommend ways to improve the process for greater productivity and/ or quality. Demonstrate teamwork to work effectively with Supervisor, and/or Group Leader, co-workers and other departments and shift to help and improve overall effectiveness of the department.

  • Demonstrate the ability to use hand tools, power and hand trucks, various measuring and recoding and accessories, pre-heaters, bake ovens, power tools and bench grinders.

  • Demonstrate the ability and willingness to accept new assignment. Assist co-workers by sharing information.

  • Manufacture high-quality products, reducing the need for rework or scrap. Recognize and communicate quality problems to Supervisor and/or Group Leader. Demonstrate an ability to resolve minor manufacturing difficulties according to operating specifications and procedures.

  • Work in a manner that meets or exceeds established effectivity goals for our facility. Increase productivity and control cost through effective utilization of equipment and suggest improvements to processes and procedures. Set-up and clean up all equipment and work areas to ensure equipment longevity.

  • Proactively seek continuous improvement in process and procedures. Complete all paperwork neatly and accurately. Follow practices and procedures in accordance with third party certifications. LANGUAGES REQUIRED

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
