Qualifications
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Staff Accountant is an important role for the Bank. This position is responsible for supporting the SVP of Finance in many of the accounting and financial reporting aspects of the Bank. The position provides support in the following areas: financial reporting, accounting, general ledger management, audit preparation, tax filing, and other related financial activities. The specific responsibilities are further outlined below:
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Accounting and Financial Reporting
Prepare monthly financial reports for management and the board of directors.
Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement reports.
Assist the SVP of Finance with managing the accounting function of the Bank, including but not limited to the following areas: correspondent accounts, internal accounts, bond accounting, fixed asset accounting, prepaid expenses, CDARS/ICS accounting, accrued expenses, mortgage accounting, and other loan / deposit accounting.
Perform, assist and/or oversee the reconcilements of General Ledger Accounts according to the schedule outlined in the Audit Risk Assessment.
Perform month-end close procedures and process month-end GL entries and accrual adjustments.
Assist with preparing the Bank’s budget and financial projections.
Tax, Audit Preparation, and Regulatory Reporting
Assist with the preparation of tax related worksheets and reports that are used for preparing the federal and state tax returns for the Bank’s holding company.
Assist with assembling information for the financial components of various audits and exams.
Provide outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
Oversee the preparation and submission of taxes related to Sales & Use for state, city and county as appropriate and applicable.
Prepare periodic regulatory reports for the Bank including the Call Report, SOD, FRY-9SP and others.
Maintains knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and procedures.
Keep up-to-date and trained on the Bank’s procedures and required bank compliance training; adhere to all Federal and State laws and regulations applicable to the Bank.
General Ledger Management
Ensure that proper controls are maintained and followed which include segregation of duties, rotation of certain reconciliations, and dual control of GL entries.
Perform routine maintenance of the Bank’s general ledger, adding and updating accounts, posting GL entries, reviewing variance reports, ensuring that generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) are followed.
Provide data analysis support of Bank projects and initiatives.
Provide support to the Bank’s accounts payable function to ensure that payments are posted properly to the Bank’s general ledger and that invoices accurately reflect agreed upon contract pricing and terms.
Perform other duties periodically as required and assigned by management.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS

BS/BA degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.
A minimum of two years’ related experience required.
Strong analytical, finance, accounting and math skills.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
Knowledge of state and federal banking regulations, and bank operational policies.
Current driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and communicate clearly to customers and employees.
Ability to regularly address and resolve problems involving multiple facets and variables in non- standardized situations.
Effective organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.

The position’s pay range starts anywhere between $60,000 and $73,000 annually
