The Office of Information Technology encourages applications for a Senior Advisor! The Advisor supports the work and activities of the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Data & Analytics (AVCD&A). This is a senior role, with responsibility for enhancing the capability and effectiveness of the AVCD&A via strategic alignment and implementation support for key organizational projects and initiatives, as prioritized and assigned by the AVCD&A. The Senior Advisor joins the D&A leadership team. The individual in this role will possess high-level leadership skills along with strategic insight and a proven track record to lead the implementation and prioritization of organizational initiatives. The individual in this role must exercise judgment and independent initiative in dealing with issues, especially those which require discretion and confidentiality.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Strategic Advising: This position will be responsible for advising the AVCD&A and D&A leadership team. In that regard, it will:

  • Facilitates the ability of the AVCD&A to manage executive functions by advising, providing context and background information on issues, conducting research and analysis.

  • Recommends and maintains senior leadership meeting agendas and priorities, supervises key topics and progress on decision-making and implementation.

  • Establish and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with D&A leaders and staff to ensure opportunities are identified and initiatives are successfully implemented.

  • Analyze and ensure D&A is focused on activities aligned with its strategic priorities and campus mission, vision and values.

  • Serve as a knowledgeable and trusted intermediary.

  • Serve as a liaison between D&A and campus partners on matters of campus-wide concern.

  • Upon request of the AVCD&A, represent D&A in the resolution of challenges and conflicts across D&A, within OIT, and with other CU Boulder organizations.

  • Collaborate regularly and closely with the Office of the Provost, Office of the Chancellor, the Strategic Resources and Support team (and their senior staff) and Schools and Colleges to ensure alignment across campus leadership.

  • In coordination with the AVCD&A and D&A leaders, continually explore and assess the evolution of the D&A organization.

  • Attend specified meetings on the AVCD&A's behalf and identify subject-specific proxies as needed.

  • Align and advise AVCD&A and direct reports of day-to-day operational and strategic issues.

Strategic Planning and Execution:

  • This role will involve participating in long-term planning and implementing strategies for the AVCD&A and the D&A organization. In that regard it will:

  • Create D&A's Strategic Plan with the AVCD&A and analyzes progress, discusses achievements with the AVCD&A's direct reports and other project leaders, and makes recommendations.

  • Lead, direct and support implementation of critical initiatives and special projects as prioritized and identified by the AVCD&A,

  • Ensure alignment with campus mission, vision and values;

  • Identify metrics for success and drive progress toward those metrics.

  • Track, supervise and ensure effective follow-through on all action items related to central initiatives and projects and with regard to metrics

  • Synthesizes project activities, progress, obstacles, and achievements into high-level reports for the AVCD&A.

  • Provides regular briefings on the project portfolio, acts as a point of coordination on behalf of the AVCD&A, and recommends action to maintain momentum and achieve objectives.

  • Plan for and coordinate specific cadence of initiatives, including an understanding of and adaptation to degrees of complexity and impact to the campus community.

  • Understand key touchpoints between campus initiatives and highlight areas where there are/might be conflicting or complementary activities, as well as opportunities for communication.

  • Lead and/or participate on campus task forces and committees; perform representational functions on strategically important initiatives.

  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships on behalf of AVCD&A and the D&A leadership team.

Communication:

  • This position will serve as the communications lead for the AVCD&A and D&A leadership team.

  • Works with the OIT Assistant Vice Chancellor for Organizational Effectiveness, Director of User Experience and Engagement, and OIT User Engagement team to develop communication plans for D&A initiatives and projects. Coordinates communication efforts with internal and external partners, contributes to the optimization of digital communications channels, and supports consistent branding efforts.

  • Prepares and edits reports, communications, and presentations in support of AVCD&A priorities, ensuring clear, consistent, and timely communication of D&A initiatives to all relevant partners.

  • Ensures effective coordination and communication with the Office of the Chancellor, Office of the Provost, and the Office of the Chief Operating Officer.

  • Collaborates with the User Engagement team on website content strategy and updates, ensuring alignment with overall communication goals.

Supervision:

  • Supervision of direct reports as assigned by the AVCD&A, including performance management and oversight of initiatives assigned to direct reports.

What We Can Offer

  • Salary: $75,100 - $85,000.

What We Require

  • Three years of experience in executive support roles of progressively increasing responsibility in a complex organization.

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution. A combination of education and relevant experience as described below may substitute for the degree on a year for year basis.

  • Direct knowledge and experience with university processes and departments.

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel.

  • Proficient in supporting Zoom and/or Teams virtual meetings.
