We are looking for a knowledgeable scientific researcher to join the Nucleic Acid (SOMAmer®) Chemistry Research and Development Group. Primary responsibilities for this position include synthesis, purification, and characterization of synthetic oligonucleotides. Secondary responsibilities include supporting research chemistry projects and developing novel process methods for modified nucleic acids.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Synthesize oligonucleotides using automated synthesizers
Purify oligonucleotides utilizing automated preparative HPLC systems
Run automated analytical systems to characterize new batches of oligonucleotides
Document, file, and track oligonucleotide process steps and experimental results
Support related chemistry research projects
BS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field with 0 to 6 years research experience
MS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field with 2 to 4 years of research experience
Skills and experience:
The candidate must possess a knowledge of nucleic acid synthesis and purification methods
The position requires a working knowledge of organic chemistry
Applicants should be skilled in basic computer programs for analyzing and presenting data
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
Applicants should have a desire to work collaboratively and effectively in a team oriented, fast-paced environment
Experience in a production operation is a plus
Salary and level are commensurate with education and experience
Work is in a typical laboratory environment with personal protective equipment use required. Knowledge and adherence to safety policies and procedures is a must.
