Google Information Architect, Technical Writing, Google Cloud in Boulder, Colorado

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 4 years of experience as an Information Architect.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with collaboration across other functions/teams, and an understanding of content strategies and audience development.

  • Experience working with UX Researchers on information architecture significant projects with multiple audiences and domains that the information serves.

  • Experience running or defining A/B tests or working with rapid UX testing tools.

  • Familiarity with content management systems and/or website production tools and related processes.

  • Ability to work with multiple groups, including remote teams, and build a networks across a complex, fast-moving organization.

  • Solid project management or program management skills.

Technical writers plan, create, and maintain educational content as an integral part of the engineering or user experience. The content is often in the form of documentation, but may also be UI text, sample code, videos, or other educational material. Regardless of the content medium, technical writers are distinguished by their abilities to explain complex topics in a way that’s useful to their audience.

As an Information Architect, you'll be part of a cross-functional group responsible for delivering user experience for our documentation, code samples, and learning models on cloud.google.com and within the Google Cloud console. We aim to provide our users with delightful experiences that get them started faster and help Google Cloud Platform differentiate itself. You will deliver on this mission through improving the user experience, information architecture, navigation, and reducing fragmentation and discoverability issues. You will work with our content strategists, technology leads, information architects, user experience researchers, and our counterparts in the Google Cloud Marketing and Development Site platform teams.

Additional Information

(Colorado only*) Minimum salary of $128,000 + bonus + equity + benefits .

*Note: Disclosure as required by sb19-085 (8-5-20) of the minimum salary compensation for this role when being hired into our offices in Colorado.

  • Design, develop, prototype, and test user site-wide navigation and information architecture models.

  • Work with UX Research, designers, and others to identify the best solutions to user problems in the content ecosystem.

  • Communicate and manage change management for projects.

  • Develop a taxonomy to apply metadata to content in order to better surface-up content according to the mental model of our users.

  • Manage projects and change management of significant scope that drives information architecture, navigation, and UX change to all of Google Cloud.
