Schneider Electric is seeking a design leader to help grow, motivate, and manage a small team of design professionals. This individual will report to the digital design director for industrial products within the global design organization. The team is fast growing and want to do so healthily. Our mission to oversee digital design across Schneider Electric, infuse design culture into the company, and scale these efforts through systems and collaboration. We create consistent, enjoyable, and memorable experiences with meaningful outcomes around sustainability, decarbonization, and optimizing the switch renewable energy. This role is expected to lead by example across the UX design process. You and your team will help translate design research direction into compelling concepts, build experience prototypes and mock-ups, refine and focus with feedback, and define details for development. Successful candidates will understand the value and application of a design system and how to successfully consume, extend, and contribute as stewards of the Schneider Electric brand. As a design leader, this role is expected to grow and maintain the quality of their team's work through design critiques, inspiring curiosity & creativity, and ensuring collaboration with other functions. As a people leader, you are also responsible for nurturing your team member's careers through goal setting, performance and development reviews, and generally being a great human that people love to work with. Your mission:

User-centered design. Apply different tools and methodologies required for the problem, timing, and context. Be transparent and guide colleagues in product management and engineering across stages of the design process.

Facilitation and co-design. Prepare and lead workshops to align teams and converge on a common product and service vision. Include others and motivate with curiosity, a constant interest to learn, and default to doing.

Culture and advocacy. Be a representative of design and user advocate within Schneider Electric. Promote our digital ecosystem, strengthen the brand, and form a unified experience.

Systems thinking. Expand and adjust perspectives to understand the problem space. Empathize with users and colleagues and appreciate a diversity of inputs.

Data driven. Know how to use and analyze qualitative and quantitative data in decision making. Design interactions that empower users with information and collect data as a natural part of the experience.

This job is for you: >12 years of design experience plus >2 years as a design manager Bachelor's degree in a design field, human-computer interaction, fine arts, or equivalent experience. Examples of regular collaboration across business functions. Empathetic to external users and internal team members across functions. Equates team member growth, learning, and success as your own. Strong portfolio that demonstrates user-centered design approach & process, systems thinking, emphatic storytelling, and definition of design work through development. Experience collaborating on research synthesis and tra slating findings into concepts. Exceptional abilities to communicate complex information in written, visual, and verbal forms. Use of Figma/Figjam, Dovetail, Maze design tools. Fluent written and spoken English.

...and even better: Master's degree in human-computer interaction, psychology, design strategy. Experience working with enterprise or industrial software products. Experience working with and applying enterprise design systems. Documenting best practices, building design playbooks, and mentoring others. What to expect Full time position. 10-15% travel opportunity. Location: North America, remote-possible if PST or MST, preferably Victoria, BC or Boulder, CO.
