Job Description Summary:This position is responsible for helping build and maintain operations across three (3) of the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research's (UCAR's) Data Center Services Colorado (DCSC) facilities and in cooperation with the NCAR-Wyoming Supercomputing Center (NWSC) in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and UCAR Facilities and Maintenance Service

This position involves a range of responsibilities, including contributing to the procurement, installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation of data center and network services and equipment. This position also includes working with Data Center Infrastructure and Management (DCIM) software, hand tools, cabling infrastructure and equipment, maintaining documentation, participating in facility audits, chaperones, and operating as "remote hands and/or eyes." What You Will Do Here is a brief summary of what one would expect to be generally responsible for in this role.

Data Center Services Colorado (DCSC) systems support: Assist in maintaining facility appearance and integrity by following and upholding DCSC standards, best practices, and compliance requirements Assist in resolving UCAR IT and computing support tickets as assigned through a work request system Participate as part of a team to install IT infrastructure systems, racks, cabinets containment, communications tray, cables, and related hardware Renders service on a daily and 24 hour-on-call basis and as a resource in solving facility, network, and DC systems-related problems

Network Engineering and Telecommunications Services (NETS) Support: Participate as part of a team in support of network engineering and infrastructure installation projects as needed or directed by NETS Management Participate as part of a team in the installation, configuration, testing, optimization, troubleshooting, and documentation of a controller-based data center monitoring system including electrical, mechanical, and access controls

Data Center IT Security Compliance team: Contribute to Data Center Asset management system and perform internal audits Participate in internal and external safety and security audits as necessary Support security access control data for DCSC Facilities Maintain compliance with media and data destruction policy

Graduation certificate from a technical institute in an IT, electrical, or mechanical area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Familiarity with DC critical Infrastructure (UPS/Generators/HVAC/Redundancy etc)
