Position Summary
The Manager, Cell Therapy Logistics & Warehousing - EMEA & APAC belongs to the Global Cell Therapy Logistics, Warehousing and Trade Operations, which is part of Cell Therapy Global Supply Chain.
The role is responsible for receiving and distribution activities for clinical and commercial cell therapy finished product at the regional distribution hubs. The role is accountable for managing regional distribution hubs including materials movements.
The role is also responsible for planning, coordinating logistics execution and shipping, transportation, receiving and distribution activities for clinical and commercial cell therapy apheresis material and finished product including shipping system management and logistical planning tasks.
Main internal partners are Patient Operations, Quality, Procurement and Manufacturing Science & Technology within Europe and across the globe. Key external collaborators are specialty courier companies, shipping system providers, logistics visibility platforms, cryopreservation hubs and distribution hubs.
Key Responsibilities
Warehousing:
Lead monthly and quarterly logistics and warehousing review meetings in liaison with in- and external stakeholders.
Oversee daily operations with logistics and warehousing suppliers and continuously improve ways of working and performance.
Issue and updated logistics and warehousing procedures and support correctness of supplier procedures.
Assess, initiate, lead and implement logistics and warehousing change controls and improvement initiatives.
Work closely with manufacturing plants and hubs for effective execution of shipping and receiving tasks.
Implement measures for logistical and warehousing readiness for country launches and new manufacturing plant go live.
Contribute to supplier selection and lead implementation projects and initiatives.
Investigate discrepancies including root cause analysis, CAPA provision and effectiveness checks.
Track KPI`s at regional warehouses and Logistics suppliers and ensure the KPI targets are met, analyze metrics, and extract actionable insights from reports to initiate projects.
Forecast business volumes in different categories and scopes to logistics and warehouse suppliers.
Carry out logistics and warehousing invoice auditing, reconciliation and payment including purchase order management.
Issue and maintain operational route plans and optimize according to individual lane requirements.
Ensure inventory are distributed in accordance with current Regulatory legislation and any specific local market guidelines.
Accountable for the integrity of finished goods inventories stored at regional hubs. Manage process for product destruction.
Ensure sufficient capacity for products management and storage is available in line with supply forecasts.
Responsible for regional warehouses and logistics providers and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations (GMP, GDP, ATMP guidelines) by working with relevant internal functions (e.g. QA, Security)
Ensure adequate agreements are in place with the regional suppliers.
Accountable for organizing physical counts and performing monthly reconciliation of BMS owned inventories stored at the regional warehouses. Investigate and adjust discrepancies in collaboration with Finance.
Create an environment of teamwork and open communication.
Foster a culture of compliance and strong environmental, health, and safety performance .
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics management or equivalent
Minimum seven years of experience in logistics, transportation, warehousing, or import/export in pharmaceutical industry
Experience in cell and gene or biotech preferred.
Experience with complex and highly regulated pharma supply chain and logistics models.
Good knowledge of GDP regulations, transport regulations and dangerous goods regulations
Skilled in planning tasks, organizing work, and communicating problem statements and solution proposals.
Ability to work in a fast-changing environment and in serving as change agent.
Flexibility in responding to change or business needs.
Strong experience in supporting ERP systems (preferably Oracle EBS and SAP)
High level of computer literacy (Excel, PowerPoint)
Must be a self-starter with strong commitment to development and continuous improvement of systems, operations, and processes.
Ability to work on cross-functional teams and build partnerships.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English - additional language skills are an asset.
Travel: This position requires up to 10 % of travel
