This opportunity entails working on wetland delineations, permitting, and compliance tasks with our team of highly skilled and supportive Wetland Scientists and Ecologists. Our team is working on some of the most exciting and complex infrastructure projects in the Northeast, providing candidates with the resources to develop their professional abilities at an accelerated rate. We are seeking a candidate who has a high potential to thrive as we continue to build our successful Wetland Science Practice.
What You'll Do:
Conducts research, gathers scientific information and data, and performs field investigations among other supporting activities with minimal oversight.
Determines best prescribed methodology for conducting analysis in field work; sets up test equipment as necessary to obtain scientific data.
May develop in coordination with Senior Scientist new methodologies and technical approaches.
Using established prescribed templates, prepares data analysis, modeling, written reports, maps, etc. as appropriate to support findings as it pertains to the natural or man-made environment in the study area.
Reviews and evaluates technical reports and plans of scientific aspects of proposed projects for the environmental review of projects including permitting, and development of mitigation plans.
Collects, analyzes, and reports on the scientific aspects of the natural and man-made environment to identify the effects of the construction and operation of transportation projects on the environment.
Provides technical advice and assistance to project engineers on specific geologic, hydrologic, biologic, or other scientific aspects and their impact on the specific phase of construction.
Reviews and evaluates the potential impact of federal, state, and local environmental legislation.
Coordinates with appropriate agencies and stakeholders to encourage cooperative management strategies, or to develop information and interpret findings.
Prepares and participates in public information meetings and hearings.
Keeps current with trends, literature and new developments in ecology and environmental science.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need:
Bachelor's degree in Geology, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Archeology, Anthropology or related field and 2 years relevant experience, or
Master's Degree in Geology, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Archeology, Anthropology or related field and 1 year of relevant experience
What You'll Bring:
Generates original data and applies new or established analytical methods in support of environmental conditions and studies.
Stay current with state-of-the-art scientific articles and trends to assess findings and relevance for environmental documentation and permits.
Assesses and synthesizes disparate information for reports.
Contribute to field efforts to assess habitat characteristics, identify environmental concerns, and complete field surveys with guidance from the Field Investigator.
Communicates effectively by developing and delivering communications that convey a clear understanding of the needs of the team.
Consistently achieves high-quality results, even under tough circumstances.Instills trust by gaining the confidence of others through accountability, honesty, integrity, and professionalism.
What We Prefer:
Experienced wetland scientist with a focus on transportation infrastructure projects.
Experienced collaborating and coordinating with state and federal agencies such as the Army Corps of Engineers, US Coast Guard, US Fish and Wildlife, NOAA, MassDEP, Federal Highway Administration, MA Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, and others.
Ability to contribute to the environmental permitting process for large, complex transportation projects.
History of collaboration.
Growth and success orientated.
