Humana Lead Technology Leader in Boston, Massachusetts

Description

Joining Humana's High Performance Engineering Effort (HPE) as a Lead Technology Leader means you will have the opportunity to affect our vision for transforming the way we develop software across the enterprise.

In this role you will influence and facilitate leading edge technology and practices to help Humana IT fully adopt DevOps practices and tools; empowering our development teams to deliver more for Humana members.

This is an opportunity to make a mark and push the needle as an innovator and technologist with a high performing and fun loving team.

Responsibilities

A new Lead Technology Leader position for the Enterprise DevOps and Enablement team will split time evenly between platform work and enablement work.

  • From a platform and tools perspective this new position will begin to work ahead of the platform team ensuring there are no roadblocks standing in the way of delivery. Understanding the bigger picture and value that a 'Value Stream Delivery Platform' brings to Humana will be important for this lead role as they will be working to ensure roadmap commitments are kept and will be contributing to the roadmap creation itself.

  • This lead will need to work across the enterprise to consider customer feedback, help engineering teams with platform questions, and understand how to coach adoption of basic DevOps principles.

  • Additionally, this lead will play a critical role for an emerging need around Engineer tooling. Desktop tooling is an important part of the Engineer Experience at Humana, and one that is unfortunately underserved today. This lead will help by connecting desktop tooling with the platform level experience work that has been underway for many years.

  • Developer tools work will include focusing on new tooling needs around container-based and cloud development as well as getting our existing toolset in order (software upgrades, developer images, etc).

  • From an enablement perspective this lead will be a resource to the enablement team to assist in coaching engineering teams around platform level concerns, as well as acting as a bridge to ensure platform level changes are properly communicated.

  • This lead will also play a role in stewarding over our 'reactive' intake work, which is a form of enablement that engineering teams bring directly to the platform team. An ideal candidate for this position will be both technical in their understanding of DevOps, but also be able to coach the 'people & process' side of doing DevOps as well.
