Actalent Electro-Mechanical Systems Technician in Boston, Massachusetts

Job Description: Electro-Mechanical Systems Technician

Role Overview: We are seeking a skilled Electro-Mechanical Systems Technician to assemble and modify complex systems for operational environments. This role involves mechanical assembly, cable and harness fabrication, and integrating COTS items into electronic racks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Assembly: Perform mechanical assembly and modifications.

  • Fabricate and install cables and harnesses, including routing and restraining.

  • Assemble COTS items into electronic racks and chassis.

  • Technical Implementation: Interpret and implement technical design/drawing packages using industry best practices.

  • Create, revise, and recommend changes to technical documentation.

  • Identify and suggest improvements for system manufacturability.

  • Standards and Compliance: Adhere to defense industry assembly standards (e.g., IPC certification).

  • Maintain rigorous production processes and quality control.

  • Work closely with engineering staff to understand design intent.

  • Communicate issues and provide corrective recommendations.

  • Production Environment: Adapt to an evolving low-rate production environment.

  • Develop build-books, track serial numbers, and operate within a PLM system.

  • Adjust to variations in program schedules and support multiple programs.

  • Pivot among programs with different needs, schedules, and priorities.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in conducting and documenting functional tests (e.g., initial power-up, Factory Acceptance Testing).

  • Troubleshooting and initial debugging skills.

  • Eligibility for security clearance

  • Existing clearance at Secret or Top Secret level is a plus.

    Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in hardware assembly.

  • Proficiency in fabricating cables and harnesses to industry standards (e.g., IPC).

  • Experience in hardware fabrication compliant with drawing packages and quality control processes.
